VIDEO: Is Toyota/Subaru Up To Something REALLY Good Here?

It was only the other day that we showed you spy photographs of Subaru's take on its joint project car with Toyota. Known as the Toyobaru, it's going to be interesting to see what Toyota and Subaru bring to the market.

Toyota has shown us three different concept versions, each slightly altered than the last, and its latest -- branded on a Scion -- looked cooler than the flagship Lexus LFA. Granted, it's a concept and if it were to be a Scion, we're confident it would lose its appeal pretty fast just because the material quality probably wouldn't impress.

Thanks to FT86club, we've got some great footage of the car doing laps around the Green Hell and you know what? It actually sounds pretty good.

Is Toyota and Subaru onto something big here?

It turns in nicely while the rear end stays planted.... A sign of good weight/polar moment distribution, as well as taut suspension setup. I think it certainly can use more power.

It also seems trying to be something in between Miata and Z, which is a difficult positioning.

It looks/sounds anemic, also, with the amount of tire screeching and looking at how it moved through those corners it looks like this'll be a hell of a under steering car. Hopefully they improve the turn in before it's released.

What is there that's nice to say about toyota? That they're reliable? That's about it. And even that's a myth.

I don't know. To me the car looked like it was carrying a fair degree of speed going into and out of corners. It made a fair amount of tire noise but looked like it had good turn in.The engine did not sound too anemic either.
