Mercedes distronic system renders radar detectors useless?

Dear 001 Have you heard this one yet? The 2007 MBZ S600 with Distronic Plus uses 24.125 Ghz for the pre-collision avoidance system. This frequency (24.125 Ghz) is very close to the same frequency that is used for Police K-Band Radar at 24.150 Ghz. This means that any radar detector which uses the K-Band will go off non-stop. Pre-2007 models used a higher frequency. So now you spend $180,000 on a car with a twin turbo V-12 and can't use a radar detector! M

LOL! Sounds nice. I'd love to get my hands on one of those S600's and have some fun with it. Now there's no reason to be scared of the cops. :p

BTW, won't the police protest and legally force MB to change the frequency?

I would thing the FCC would have nailed that one if it was a problem. All devices transmitting signals would have been approved by them.
