DRIVEN: Is Audi's A7 MORE Than One Car? Is It A Coupe, Sedan AND Wagon In One Neat Package?

DRIVEN: Is Audi's A7 MORE Than One Car? Is It A Coupe, Sedan AND Wagon In One Neat Package?
Once again, the Audi A7 has netted another intriguing review. First it was Agent 001 that was cherishing Audi's latest product. Then we saw USAToday's James R. Healey give it the thumbs up.

Now it's time for one of Detroit's best to weigh in. This is bound to get interesting.

But one thing that hasn't readily been addressed previously is how this A7 is really a versatile product. I mean, it can be a coupe, sedan, wagon and it has Quattro. Talk about having your cake and eating it too!

One of the interesting bits I read in Scott Burgess' piece is that its "driving attributes feel coupesque." Well, that's never a terrible thing. In fact, that sounds similar to my experience in a first-generation Mercedes-Benz CLS550.

George Orwell called it DoubleThink in 1949. The ability to believe contrary ideas at the same time.

But today, DoubleThink is alive and well, crossing over from fiction to reality TV, political debates and anything else that understands the power of language to shape an idea. You're free to repudiate.

Many say a car cannot be a coupe, a wagon and a sedan at the same time. By definition or just counting doors a car typically falls into one, and only one, category. But let's close the door on this theory. The 2012 Audi A7 proves both 2+2=5, and that a car can be more than one thing at the same time...

Is it a coupe? lmao, yeah, it's a coupe, just like the Subaru Outback is a truck.

I've never seem so many ass kissing words in one sentence. I am really beginning to lose interest in autospies website. And 00R you're beginning to sound just like 009.

True, 00R but there's been a bit too many articles on this one.

It's a nice drive but personally I'd much rather have the S5 sportback come here to the U.S. than purchase an A7.

Why?

15k cheaper and a whole lot sportier.

Why is 00R so OBVIOUSLY hyping this car? Have some objectivity, have some pride man. It is CLEAR that you're getting paid to say how great the A7 is.. come on now, it's not THAT great. Is the A7 really addressing an under served market segment? What, the "Soccer Mom Who Wished She Was In A Fancy $60K Stationwagon Market"? That was the BMW 5GT. Is A7 looking at a different segment? Men who want to drive a 4-door hatchback because an SUV isn't cool enough?

I appreciate the A7 for what it is, but I don't believe there's a large enough audience willing to shell out $60K+ for this thing.

Looks to be around 1,000 units a month, solid for the price level and especially for Audi.

The old CLS sold 700-900 units per month when it was new, and its starting price was 10K higher.

It's just a large hatchback. And it will fail in the US just like any other large hatchback.
