RENDERED SPECULATION: Is This How You Envision The Third-Gen MINI Cooper?
According to reports from overseas, this rendering, which was compiled after analyzing spy photographs, is said to be a good representation of the next-generation Mini Cooper.

AutoExpress says that these images are based off of "exclusive information." Do you believe them?

From the spy photographs I have seen I am not so sure what to believe. Although I do know one thing, if these images are a good idea of what's coming down MINI's pipeline, it seems that they're heading down the right path. It has just enough of a differentiating character yet it doesn't completely abandon the Cooper's past.

But this brings up another point: should MINI try and make the Cooper even more different? Considering the line up has been strengthened with the Countryman, upcoming Coupe and Roadster, does MINI need anymore differentiation?

The most important new MINI is nearly here – and the next- generation hatchback promises to be more practical, cheaper to run and even more fun to drive.

Our pictures show how the third instalment of the retro-inspired hatch will look. They’re based on exclusive information, as well as spy shots, after we caught the newcomer testing for the first time in Germany.

At the Detroit Motor Show back in January, BMW’s director of design, Adrian van Hooydonk, told Auto Express: “With the third-generation MINI, perhaps it’s time to try something a little more experimental.” And new design chief Anders Warming will want to put his own stamp on the brand, after taking over from Gert Hildebrand at the end of last year. That means fans can expect the fresh hatch to lay a blueprint for a whole new generation of models...

I like it...the wedgy stance, the side ripple, and 3 cyl engines are a step in the right direction.

The problem with retro remakes is where do you go from here styyle wise...few if any get it right in a third generation to keep buyer's interest.

I still like the first one the best, adding the trends of smaller windows and creasing the sheet metal does nothing for me.

I still like my 06 Cooper S styling better but I do like the Countryman headlights on this sketch.
