What Are the Most OVERPRICED Cars On The Market For 2011?
If an automaker's big strategy is to raise prices and sales drop off immediately as a result, chances are the car-buying public thinks some of those vehicles are way overpriced.
U.S. car sales fell 3.7% in May to 1.06 million, which puts automakers well off the 13 million sales pace initially predicted for the year. That's due in no small part to the $29,817 average transaction price car data firm TrueCar posted for May. That's the highest average selling price for automobiles since 2002 -- just the latest aftershock of earthquakes in Japan that resulted in tsunamis that killed tens of thousands of people, created a nuclear crisis and crippled the country's energy supply.

aha You think the Lexus ES 350 is... just because that it's based on the Camry? ...that it doesn't fulfill your list of criteria that obviously aren't the purposes of the ES?
But I do like how you chose such a flattering picture of the car! (=

Actually the post shows only Honda and Lexus vehicles. I guess Acura was somehow better?

The Escalade gets pretty pricey, I'm not sure if a fully loaded Escalade actually has an extra $52,850 worth of equipment over a regular Tahoe.
The 911 speedster also doesn't make sense when compared to its brethren.

Audi. They have high profits from parts sharing with VW. Why not pass the savings to the customer?

A3 is much more expensive than Golf. Even they share the same platform, they are not the same car. A3 uses TT typed suspension setup. Steering is different and even the DSG tuning is different too. The sound insulaton is better on A3. The fit and finish on A3 is a lot better than Golf. You can easily tell that on the door frame and the door panel.
Please keep in mind that sharing the same chassis and engine does not mean they are the same car. There are many things the manufacturer can do to separate two cars with different price points.

Any Ferrari or lamborghini or Maseratti, those are beautiful but unreliable and overpriced cars...Do not get me wrong, I love those but the reliability is horrible in cars so expensive, In the other side I see the LFA that IMO , just for the reliability is a winner.

Speaking of bon fires, has anyone actually been roasted in a Ferrari? I always thought people pulled over before the smoke made it too hard to see.

Car pricing is something relative. The same car model with the exact options would cost differently according to where it is sold. In some places it places it will sound like a bargain, in other places its way overpriced.
For example, in Dubai, I called a BMW dealer few days back, and asked about the price of the BMW M3 and the sales agent said it would cost me 100,000 USD net. The last time I checked in bmwusa.com the cost was much less. For the guys in US, would you consider it overpriced? I would appreciate your opinion.

Porsche has the highest profit margins of any mass-market manufacturer. So by definition they are the winner. You get the least actual product for the same amount of money. And I say that as a lifelong fan too.

Multiple people have suggested BMW and Audi. I'm just wondering why Mercedes isn't tossed with them as well. What is it about Mercedes that doesn't give it the "overpriced" connotation that the other 2 germans receive?
