Higher Gas Prices Fail To Sway Consumers To Smaller Vehicles

This isn't surprising. Americans have NEVER been fans of small cars. They like SUV's and full size vehicles.

Now that we know higher gas prices don't sway consumers, can we lower prices again? :P

Well that is because the Economy class in the US means built cheaply. Build premium economy cars and you will change the image. Premium does not mean a car with full options. From the ground up it needs to be high quality.

Also people are accustomed to higher gas prices now. Further a lot of the bigger vehicles get better gas mileage. For example a Ford Mustang V6 gets 31 mpg on the highway in an automatic V6.Car makers are offering a lot more V6 engines in SUVs and trucks this time around. I think a lot of people are more then happy to stay with a larger vehicles with a V6 that gets in the high 20's on the highway.I think to see people really change buying habits your going to have to see $5.00 per gallon now. That figure will be the new $4.00 a gallon from 2008.
