As much as I love German cars, base price means nothing as they nickel and dime you to death with the options. :-\

In a few years, and in time for the current 5-series mid-cycle refesh, BMW is dropping the naturally aspirated six in favor of a turbo charged four. This shall match up nicelyvwith Audi's 2.0 TSI powerplant

My parents have a 2008 BMW 528xi with all options. And for a car that easily costed north of $40k, it certainly doesn't feel like it's anywhere near that worth. My biggest gripes are the Inline6 engine feels anemic, and the little plastic shifter that they're using now has to be the cheapest feeling piece of crap ever; I feel like it's going to break off in my hand every time I put it in gear.
