Chevrolet Pushes the Vette even harder on the Ring

The ongoing fight for ring times rages on as Chevy posts two new lap times on the Nordschleife.

The first is a new time for the Z06 coming in an impressive 20 seconds faster then the 2006 run at 7:22.68. This puts the Z06 with the Z07 package 1.54s ahead of the Nissan GT-R Mk-II. An impressive time considering the lack of all wheel drive and 18 fewer ponies.

The second is a new ZR1 time, posting a neck breaking 7:19.00 this takes back the title from the slightly "modified" Viper and puts in a smaller 0.63s lead.

With the next generation of Corvette and Viper just around the corner, the next few years will be interesting to say the least.

I just got done driving my boss' Z06 and WOWW!!!!!! what a remarkable machine. it was a stick shift and you can hit 60mph on first gear!

... about these new times... a 20 second difference is a long time... donno if i buy it. But definitely impressive.

I really enjoy reading non biased comments. The corvette is an amazing machine especially for the price. Im wondering what the new corvette will be like with mid engine and an updated interior and im sure they have new tricks up their sleves. Once again I think gm will put the world on notice. Shall I say even the likes of mclaren and ferrari with the next zo6 and zr1.

I normally hear the Corvette doesnt handle well from many here.Otherwise they complain about the seats.
