VIDEO: Top Gear Reviews The 2011 BMW 1M -- Does Clarkson Give It The Seal Of Approval?
Until now, every single 2011 BMW 1M review has glowed. It's been a lovefest, to be quite honest.

And having driven it myself, plenty of people have come to me and asked "Is it that good?" My answer is always a resounding "Yes!"

However, not everyone takes my word as gold. That's fine. But when someone like Tiff Needell and Jeremy Clarkson speaks up and says essentially "Wow," it starts to get attention. Needell gave it a thumbs up, but what about the overly critical Clarkson that loathes most BMW products?

Well, you'll have to see and find out down below:

It may perform well but has anyone noticed how ugly this car is, even though the M styling makes it look better.

So do you reckon Jeremy likes it a bit?

Kidding aside, the M1 is a brilliant car. But I am surprised that Jeremy has such high praises for the M1 even while admitting that he suspects BMW purposely reduced the M1's power so that it doesn't rival its sister M3. Remember Jeremy's review of the Porsche Cayman S with the same sentiment in regards to its sister Carrera S? He's a bit bias I should think.

A rose by any other name is still a rose.
This car more than deserves the "M" moniker - as much as the M3 or M5.
I understand why BMW doesn't want to call it a M1, but it certainly has earned that title.
And it'd probably blow the original M1 back into the last century (where it belongs).

Also, Cayman has 2 trunks. This 1M is already a modern classic.

The chassis for the car is from the E46 (Engineering Series) and was shortened for all E81 (Hatchback), and later E82 (Coupe) & E88 (Cabriolet) cars that launched in 2003 (Hatchback) as MY2004. And blazinboy is correct, the M Diff is from the current E90/E92/E93 M3.

Jeremy has not liked Porsches for some time. His last favorite Porsche was the 928 with it's Tartion plaid seats and 8 track tape deck.He does have a bit of a point with Porsche though. There is so much heirarchy going on within it's model ranges that horsepower and torque are deliberately held back in the Cayman/Boxster range to not step on the toes of the 911. The thing is now that the new 911 has going up a bit in price perhaps they should simply keep one engine size range(S and above)and drop the base 911 with the smaller engine. Then they could simply put the 3.6 in the Boxster/Cayman S models. These cars are clearly under horsepowered.Above the 911S would simple be the GTS and GT3.Porsche is charging enough money for these cars so it seems logical to do this.
