Toyota Recalling 82,000 Hybrids Due To Faulty Wiring
Toyota Motor Corp. said Wednesday it will recall about 82,200 hybrid SUVs in the U.S. due to computer boards with possible faulty wiring.

The car giant said the recall will involve Highlander and Lexus brand hybrid SUVs from its 2006 and 2007 lines. The action covers just the vehicles sold in the U.S., with no other models affected.

Have you tried submitting it yourself? Or are you going to keep complaining about it? There is a nice big red button that says SUBMIT AN ARTICLE at the top of the page.

Exactly. Just freakin' post any news you find about BMW and we'll chime in, but if you're not going to post then don't pretend we're going after Toyota. A recall is a recall.

I have a 2006 RAV4, bought new, and let me tell you it was the worse Toyota I've had. Checking out the forums on the RAV4, it appears I'm not alone. Toyota really dropped the ball on their model years 2004-2008, whether it was RAV4 or Camry.

I also have a 2004 Sienna with 180,000 miles, and it still drives like a dream, not a single problem, but will I buy another Sienna? I'm afraid to because I don't know if Toyota is back on track or not.

To be fair, I also had a 2004 BMW 330Ci, and it was an awesome drive but: 1. headliner kept on peeling off due to bad glue, 2. AM reception sucked due to bad antennae in rear window, and 3. temperamental climate control, so when my lease was up, I bought a Scion Tc. My favorite car however was a 2002 Miata, the best in terms of fun and reliability.

So I'm not a Toyota hater, but I definitely love cars and I'm first and foremost a consumer, and I feel it's my job to share my experience with other consumers on this forum to help us all be more informed based on our collective experiences.

I've never met him before. Are you and the several other Toyota fanboys on this forum "pals"? Or are you the same person?

I thought Lexus was a "seperate" company. Hiding behind big bro Toyota. Same car, same company.

I don't know what is bigger news, a recall on 923 Bmw SUVs or 82k Toyota/lexus SUVs.

It's a voluntary recall. Some of the control board transistors may be incorrectly soldered and could be damaged due to heat from high load driving.

Translation: Some cars if driven hard enough may fail putting vehicle in safe mode (reduced power) no big deal. Less than 1% failure, but Toyota said to the fed goverment will will recall anything we find no matter how small......

It must be nice to be a Toyota fanboy and your favorite brand can have as many recalls as possible or safety issues and JD Power would still kiss their a**. If GM or Ford had the same issue Toyota had, it would affect their quailty. Must be nice.

I would trust that recalled car to last longer then most other brands that have not experienced a recall. Its reliability will still be superior.

Must be a mistake.Toyota/Lexus can do no wrong right Nonofyobus. They just won the J D Power award.I think Reliability is Inversely proportional to the number of recalls you have.So naturally Toyota is the clear winner.Even Consumner reports will agree.

Watch out! He might agree, the vehicles are so good now, look at how many things they fixed, there couldn't possibly be any more right??

Toyota is in the process of contacting owners and obtaining replacement parts to fix the defect. Owners should receive a notice in the mail from Toyota by the middle of July about the defect. Once enough replacement parts have been manufactured, Toyota will contact owners and set up appointments to fix the defect free of charge.

The hybrid Toyota Lexus and Highlander RX400h SUV are both involved in a recall of more than 80,000 cars recently announced by Toyota. The hybrid drive system in some of these cars can short out as a result of a manufacturing defect and cause the car to turn off while traveling. Toyota is running out of personal loans to pay for all these recalls.
