What Auto Company Is The Most Feared In The Industry Today? Can You Guess?
"What they've had for years is a cost advantage, which they still do," said John Hoffecker, a senior adviser in consulting firm AlixPartners. "Now they are going to be able to move pricing up and they will be able to take market share."

"In terms of momentum, [Hyundai] is a bigger threat right now than anyone else," says Bob Lutz, former vice chairman of GM, who still consults for the Detroit car maker. "I worry about them a lot."

In New Port Richey, Fla., Scott Fink, owner of the Hyundai dealership, can't stock enough Sonatas and Elantras. His dealership sold 610 cars last month—an average of 20 a day. The Toyota dealership across the street sold 170 in the same period.

BMW in the luxury market, because they are the best managed car company. Plus many of their cars/engines are benchmarks(especially M cars) in there segments. And they have managed to hold the public’s interest and release exciting well made cars for many decades.

BMW is overrated.

Most magazines with a sport bias, virtually over 90% of magazines, love them because of their handling. That hardly makes them the "benchmark", especially since the vast majority of BMW customers don't buy their cars for "handling".

I drove a 3 series not to long ago and didn't see what made it so special. It drives nice, feels solid and sporty but it wasn't enough to make me want to trade in my current car.

100% incorrect. The BMW 3-series is without a doubt the "BENCHMARK" and has been for ages. It also handles better than all its competitors, so people (myself included) do buy it for its handling among other wonderful attributes of the car.

I bought a BMW for its handling then I found out that there are several other cheaper cars that handle better. I'm of the opinion that BMWs are overrated.

Most Feared in What Country ?

Different Markets have Different Dominators so the most feared would vary from one Continent to the Next.

I can see it! They are the "underdog" now, BUT have been to the mountain top which means they must know a thing or two! If they capitalize on their perceived mistakes, come out swinging, they will still be the 800 lb gorilla in the room.

Hyundai on the economic side and BMW on the luxury side. Both companies have a serious upcoming arsenal of cars that would terrify any company competing with them.

I originally thought that VW/Audi/Porsche would steam roll BMW but I am amazed at the success of the new 5er, X3, etc.. like Hyundai they can't stock enough of them.
