SPIED: The BEST Shots Of The BMW 6-Series Gran Coupe Emerge, But Is It Too Pedestrian?
Now that it seems every serious luxury manufacturer is playing with four door "coupes" -- I still don't agree with the term coupes on four-door sedans, but whatever -- everyone seems to have their own take.

For example, when I see the Mercedes-Benz CLS, it is a seemingly elegant and classy design with plenty of fluid lines front to back. The Porsche Panamera certainly isn't the prettiest but it definitely has the most presence with its bulbous thing going on. Audi's the latest to join the pack with its A7 and to be quite honest, it has the best mix of utility and sophistication of them all.

In other words, the BMW 6-Series is now playing in the "me too" category and while people went nuts when it debuted at the auto show, it's not blowing my doors off in spy photographs. To me, the overall shape is very Volkswagen Passat CC, which is only a step away from the Hyundai Sonata. Sure it boasts front and back ends of a 6-Series but I don't think it is as slinky and unique-looking enough to play in the category.

Am I RIGHT or WRONG on this one?

You tell me, Spies!

The soon to be released 6-Series Gran Coupe was first seen as a concept platform to showcase the new 6-Series Coupe styling, back in April of 2010. But then rumors and then design patent filings revealed that indeed BMW was going to produce a production version of the vehicle. Final confirmation came in the form of the first spyshots of the vehicle.

Today, we bring you the best quality spyphotos of the new 6-Series to date. The new photos reveal one very important feature. BMW has stayed true to the styling of the original concept, the production Gran Coupe is just as low slung and sleek in design as the original...

Picture it in Black with 20's from the new F10 M5 with the M-sport pack and you'll think differently.

Better yet the "M" version will be even hotter.

The A7 is pretty from the front but that rear.........

The 6 Gran look is not as polarizing and............ the interior blows the doors off any Audi non-"S" model.....

I am liking this car more and more with each post ... Now BMW should make a two-door version of the 5 to fill the empty space between the 3 and the 6 .... #wishinonastarr

The biggest mistake they did with the 6er, and now the GS it seems is get rid of the front bumper on the concept.

The BMW 6 Concept looked great but don't know why the production models are looking bland even though they are very very close to the concept. Something is lost in the transformation or maybe it is the dull scenery or ordinary white paint job.

So you gush over the A7 which looks like nothing more than a A6(which isnt that great looking at all) with a hatchback in person and pics. Yet a 4 door 6 series (a literal 4 door coupe) is pedestrian. What a joke the only thing pedestrian is your articles, and journalism talent or lack there of.

Ouch! A bit harsh! But there is a valid point here, Agent. I concur with the comment that "...look is not as polarizing" It seems that if BMW goes off the deep with styling, people get mad and if they try to be conservative ala Audi, people still get mad.

yeah it was a bit harsh, but I get tired of these articles with rediculous tabloid type titles. Personally I think the 6 series sedan will be a gorgeous car cleanly styled and modern, the cls is nice but a bit overwrought its styling details are all over the place, and the A7 just isnt that nice looking (the A5 sportback on the other hand is gorgeous)its better looking than a 5 GT but what isnt. My issue with this car may be its price which unless they price it below the coupe it will cost more than a 7 series and price it to far above the competition. If they bring this in at around 75 - 80 it will make sense at 90 grand though it will be to costly to make sense.

Oh how I miss the days when BMW, Audi and Mercedes-Benz only had a few models. I can remember a few years back (maybe in the 80's, pre X5) when BMW had 3 models, the 3 series, 5 series and the 7 series. Now all these car companies have way too many models that all look the same in differnt sizes (especially Audi).

I understand from a business stand point they may want to flood the market with a model for every person imaginable but to me this just weakens the brand's prestige. In the famous words of Sir Charles, "I may be wrong but I doubt it".

seeing as how it's the only car of the group that is actually based on a coupe, it's easily the most coupe-ish looking four door of the group. The A7 is just an A6 sedan with a hatchback. The new CLS is an E-class sedan with a sloped rear (the old one was much sleeker looking). The only other similar vehicles that look coupe-ish are the Panamera (though it's an ugly coupe) and the Rapide (which is beautiful). Personally I do wish they'd kept the front bumper from the concept, but in M Sport guise I think it's going to look pretty awesome. I'd like to see it sans camo and in a different color. Like Imola Red.

I like the car but honestly it looks so simple. CLS (that I saw in person) looks like master piece of art (and yes it is antagonist cause I do not like that but I agree, is a lot better in design). Grand coupe look nice but is just other BMW styled, is almost an elongated 5 with lower profile. That's to simple. Design is not the field of BMW but I am sure the M version will have an outstanding performance that (IMO) out weight the designs. Before I didn't pay attention to BMW for those weak engines.....today is other story. Foreseen, If AMG Does not keep improving , I see several MB customer coming to BMW M division...but also I several BMW Customer going for MB cause they won't like the ugly or simple designs of BMW.

from the pictures alone I think the cls looks better. I don't think that the cls and the e look as similar as this and the 6; or the audi a7, and well, the rest of audi. People will always remember the first cls because it was something totally revolutionary, outside the box. Now that every car company basically has some concept of a "4 door coupe" as mercedes calls it, the awe isn't as big as the first launch but the cls is still king.

The Msport version will be a real head turner, not to mention the MGran coupe with the M5's engine that BMW is certainly going to build!(wishful thinking).
