Porsche’s new campaign (its biggest since the 2003 Cayenne launch) seeks to promote an image of its two-seat sports cars as daily drivers. In fact, the tagline that’s used to sell the 911, Boxster and Cayma is: "Porsche. Engineered for Magic. Every day." There will be TV spots to be broadcast throughout the year that

Yeah. Saw some of these commercial spots which are much akin to Ford's Drive one commercials with "real people" in them. Sort of weird actually.

Porsche has always been the practical sportscar. When I was a kid my father always took me places in his 62 356 cabriolet and 66 911.Nothing new here.

since when does being able to carry a passenger make a car practical? what are you comparing it to a motorcycle? The ads are laughable at best the only Porsche models that are practical are the Cayenne and Panamera you can carry people and cargo. The 911, cayman, and boxster have little to no cargo space and are 2 seaters how is this anymore practical than any other sports car. In fact they are all less practical than most several other performance cars........marketing to lemmings always work another just fell off the edge...

Porsche is very addictive and almost practical . Enough to be a daily driver.

I think the term Practical is extremely subjective.

What makes a two seater impractical? What if you don't have kids/dogs/etc that necessitates more than two seats?

911 or Cayman:
Decent MPG? Check (Better/Comparable to the 335i or M3 for sure)
Comfortable to drive? Check (arguable if you are over 6'3" or overweight...but still)
Reliable? Check.

Hell, the 911 is even available with AWD, and has been touted as one of the best cars for poor conditions (when equipped with Snow Tires) by several reviewers.

If someone was in the market for a sports car in that price range, and didn't need the extra seats/space, I think Porsche offers some voracious "practical" competition for comparably sized vehicles in the same category.
