In my opinion they are just getting started - the upcoming model releases show no signs of slowing and with the new 3er around the corner they might be on the verge of some huge numbers.

BMW overtook MBZ a long time ago! It has been a competition between Lexus and BMW in the past few years for top sales.

and they still sell at premiums to everyone (except mercedes on the higher end). and bmw is more profitable.

oh...and bmw owners are wealthier to boot. just look at the post about which brand has the most black card holders....bmw. "The average Centurion holder has $16.3 million in assets and an annual household income of $1.3 million."

more like gasping for air. quality problems, tired old models, an inability to introduce any exciting new models (witness the bombing CT and HS), far superior products from competitors, etc.

how will they address all these issues at once?

looking at thier sales more than half of their volume comes from the 3 series. And to be honest it's very easy to get into a 3 series for almost the same price as an accord or camry. I think people just like saying I have a bmw. I rode in my friends 3 series and I don't see the appeal at all. Then again I would only get a new updated c-class because the old one is pretty awful as well.

I haven't priced them but if it is true you can get a BMW 3's for the same price as an Accord or Camry I can see why the Bimmer's are selling so well.

Riding in a BMW is not driving a BMW.

The value in a BMW is in the driving.

i can't even comment about your thoughts on the 3-series. actually drive one and then comment.

separately, 80% of lexus sales come from the camry ES, the corrolla IS and the harrier RX. the 3-series sells for far more than both the IS and ES.

merc you dont see the appeal of the 3 series are you serious? lets see for the price its the best performing car you can get into. lets see same basic price of an a5 and beats the s5 in performance 40 more hp then the c350 perfectly balanced unsurpassed handling. by the way im only talking about the 335 coupe

"Is 350 is just as good"

Yes the what all the automotive press says, wait no, they say the BMW is better.

know: IS350 is just as good, really? drive both and then say that.

and if the IS is so good, why does the 3-series cost more AND sell vastly more volume and win one comparison test after the other?

go try and lease one equipped the way you want. for example, they run an ad for a base model $599/month 5-series. they you go add $15-20k in options. for a real world example, the lease on my 2011 535i is $930/month.
