A RWD V8 SPORT COUPE ACURA IS ON THE WAY?

Guys, I came upon this article on the internet. If this is true, that means Acura really listens to all of their enthusiasts for all this time. A V8 platform luxury rear-wheel sport coupe? For me this is like a child on a Christmas morning. However, given the history of the Acura, I would be highly surprised if they decided to launch this model. Nevertheless, I’m crossing my fingers, and hope this would be true…

Have any of you ever heard of this rumor?

Better but the front looks like a Mazda 3.

No, this is the first time I have seen/heard this. There were rumors of a Honda/Acura? V-8 when the Ridgeline came out about a year ago.

It has the side profile of a CLK and the wheels are oversized TL rims I believe. V8 will go against their whole concept of having fuel efficient vehicles. It does look like it would be a hit car though since Acura seriously needs to get into the sportscar/coupe segment. The NSX is due for new redesign as well to boost up the Acura brand.

Acura needs to compete with Lexus and Infiniti in the Japanese Market. After that they can take MIGHT have a chance to take on the Germans in some aspects(eventhough Euro will always dominate).

This is exactly the kind of vehicle that Acura needs in order to put some passion into its line-up. If its able to launch the vehicle while the Lexus SC430 and Mercedes CLK are towards the end of their natural life-cycles then Acura's 2 door would get bragging rights in the $50-60,000 price range.

I agree with MercBasher, this would help Acura a lot in their name being recognized. V8 power with some crazy HP and Torgue behind it. Did I mention RWD as well. That would be the complete package.

By the way I don't like your posting name though =P but it's okay.

I presently own an 02 Acura MDX, it's my third SUV and while I've enjoyed the MDX performance and utility, I think it's time to move on. I owned an 89 Legend Coupe from 89-95, it was the best car I ever owned, was very disapointed when Acura stopped making the coupe. I've been waiting anxiously for the 08 CTS and even more so for the 09 CTS Coupe. Now the rumor of an Acura coupe!!! My ideal car would be an SH-AWD Coupe similar in design to the one pictured w/o those monster wheels. Power could easily come from a 300hp V6 w/ 6 speed automatic with paddles. If Acura wants to take the market by storm they would be wise to keep the price under 50K ie; the SH-AWD RL Sedan.

With the CLK and BMW AWD Coupe already in the line up and the CTS rumors flying around, an Acura coupe would give us closet coupe lovers something to cheer about.
