Will The Range Rover Evoque Forge NEW Ground For Land Rover?

Will The Range Rover Evoque Forge NEW Ground For Land Rover?
When you think of Land Rover or Range Rover, you probably don't think of youth. Likely you associate the vehicle with well-pampered wives or hedge fund executives. Aside from that, it seems that the marque has had a hard time breaking into a younger demographic.

From what it looks like though, the Evoque is going to turn that around. With 18,000 units ordered globally, customers in their 30s and 40s are expected to dominate the order banks. Unfortunately, no official data has been uttered from Range Rover itself.

It looks like time will unravel this one for us.

In other news, if you want to build your very own Evoque, make sure to head over to Land Rover's website and start ticking those option boxes.

Land Rover has taken 18,000 global orders of the new Range Rover Evoque.

Although an exact buyer-breakdown hasn’t been announced, Land Rover’s target audience for the Evoque is younger than has been traditional for a Range Rover buyer...

There is still a stigma, old rich people that don't know much about vehicles of rich enough to be able to fork out $10,000. for a tranny, that is what my friend payed for his defender, outrageous! and no thanks, no amount of marketing is going to sway me into buying an inferior over priced inefficient, car, and they are not even off road worthy, and splashing through puddles doesn't make it off road worthy.

Your friend got the shaft bad. Those cars use the ZF 4hp22 transmission, same used in BMW's and some other European cars up until the GM 5 speed and 4 speed came out in 93ish. My 02 has that ZF transmission, and it has not failed me. My 85 745i transmission is still solid as new despite having 400hp going through it. Those transmissions are not expansive. In fact, the GM 4 speed was quite a bit more expensive.

85bmw745i , you know your transmissions! yes $10,000. is outrageous for a tranny rebuild, he had the last Defender made? Wasn't that a 5 speed?

If it is as small as I think it is, no thanks for that price.

62k fully loaded for a 4cyl suv with a Ford Explorer/Flex parts bin interior.

Like PT Barnum once said- "A fool and his money are soon parted."

Oh, but it does have that "Range Rover" nameplate. Ooooooo.

I'm thinking rich wives will trade in their RX for it and that's about it.

Sorry, thats way too expensive for a baby compact rover that won't be able to offroad like a real rover. I'll never get rid of my 2002 Discovery II. Last of the Real offroad rovers. The LR3 is great stock, and will out wheel any other stock SUV, but mods are limited to johnson rods to make the air suspension ride higher.

You know why this will be a success? Because most blind consumers think 'Land Rover' and 'Range Rover' are separate brands. Therefore, they won't analyze this vehicle beyond looks (check) luxury (check) and cache (check) which will lead them to buy it as long as price or luggage capacity is not an issue.

no. they should bring the defender back to the US. It would be the only smart move they ever made.

I agree. US should bring back the Defender...the rest of these Land Rovers LR4-Expensive grocery getter/RRsport/Range Rover/LR2 are mostly used on pavement.
