Can You GUESS Which TWO Manufacturers Are Getting HURT By Hyundai?
And you may not believe it.
According to numbers compiled by Hyundai, there are two manufacturers that are starting to get beaten up by the Koreans in 2011. While other conquer figures have remained flat, Chevrolet and Nissan are both getting whacked when it comes to customer inflow.
To me it is a bit peculiar that Chevrolet owners would go right to Hyundai since the Cruze is a pretty good car -- with exception of its bland exterior design and higher price point. Nissan, on the other hand, makes a little more sense since it is an import brand and the Versa is starting to show its age, as is the Sentra. What other cars could owners be turning their backs on?
Can anyone put down some thoughts as to why Chevrolet and Nissan owners are jumping ship for Hyundai?

How do they know what cars their customers were considering?

@Eldard
Oh c'mon. Just about every car has a recall here or there, that just happened to be the Cruze's.

Isn't the chevy cruz a rebadged daewoo anyway! So to go from a cruz to a hyundai isn't much of a choice change.

Cruze a re-badged Daewoo? No.
The Daewoo Lacetti as well as Chevrolet Cruze are both re-badged Holdens, being made in Australia. If the car was made in Korea, you'd have a point.

tkindred,
I think they measure the data based on trade-in vehicles.

Also can be found out by a little interview like 'what are you currently driving or driving before getting this Hyundai'
BTW i think Nissan don't have the most loyal customers. Other Japanese brands like Subaru and Mitsubishi have very loyal customers and Toyota/Honda are in the middle.

Good observation and spot on.
You don't hear about people saying "I'm holding onto my Altima!"

No Nissan's do not rust easily. Not any more then any other car. Cars just do not rust like they used to. I have a 1981 280ZX without any rust on it. BTW. I am holding on to my Infiniti. It is by far the best car I have ever owned. 6 years 80k miles and I have only changed the tires and brakes. I still get 24mpg out of a 300hp engine. Not bad for 6 years old.

data is flawed since it makes no mention if the trade in was bought new or used.

I'm a Chevrolet fan (though not a current owner) and I also admire a lot of what is being produced by Hyundai/Kia (in particular Kia) and that's where my money would go, if not to GM. They've earned it fair and square.
