Which Company Makes The WORST Quality MAINSTREAM Cars?
Although we have a good idea of which companies make good, bad and outstanding products, there has to be one car company that makes the WORST quality vehicles that are MAINSTREAM.
That's a whole 'nother ballgame and that's because mainstream products touch just about everyone we know and these are the cash cows of all the automakers.
For example, when exotic automakers produce cars that aren't quite up to the golden standard that only affects several hundred buyers if that. When an auto manufacturer builds a volume product and messes it up, several hundred thousand units affect a widespread amount of people.
With that said, make sure to name names:

since he answered let me help: 1. EXTREMELY poor resale values, horrible reliability, until recently horrible interior quality, and while they have certainly turned around their "initial" quality it still remains to be seen whether or not their products will hold up over time. Dodge has always been the American VW sure their cars may look nice and perform well but are they really worth the headache, repair costs and undue wasted time it takes with poor reliability and the answer is no.no matter how much nicer they are I jsut dont see a company who also cant make reliable cars helping Chrysler.

Well, I would agree with the cars up to now outside of the Wrangler.
But the new Cherokee, 300c/Charger and 200c are WORLD's apart from previous stuff.

bmwdrvr hit the nail right on the head. The interior is a mess after just a few years. Reliability is crap. The new may be improved however it hasnt been around long enough to see how it will hold up over time. I agree that the wrangler is in a different class.

Dacia cars actually have decent quality. Most owners are satisfied with them and their reliability. They have the advantage that Renault is a guiding hand in their car production process etc.

I can't help but laugh about you mentioning Dacia. I used to live with a Romanian guy who fit the "everything European is better than everything else" d-bag model. A very patriotic gent that swore up and down the Dacia Duster was the greatest vehicle to ever grace the earth.

Why is Willis being deboosted for his comments?
I live in Europe and Dacia makes good cars. They're a sales hit here with budget-oriented buyers. A modern Dacia is essentially a "cheaper Renault". And Renault offers great cars these days along with Citroen and Peugeot. Funny how the people who claim these cars are 'crap' don't even live in Europe, have zero experience with them and simply think that just because they come from a particular country that they must 'suck'.
I currently drive a 2007 BMW 118i 5-Door but for my next car I am seriously considering a new Citroen C4 diesel. Comfortable, spacious and large enough to haul all my photographic equipment around.

Wimmer, I believe the site moderators alter the boost/deboost to generate activity. The more hits on a page means the more $. I've noticed a trend of late that general level headed comments get de-boosted. This would be a great way to stir the pot. Look no further than article titles vs. content. I could be wrong, but I doubt it.

Almost all manufacturers make poor quality cars especially for the developing countries. Strictly budget cars of India and neighboring countries are very of very bad quality and also unsafe. Many people will be surprised to see Asian specification VW polo(Vento) or Toyota Corolla basic variants. Some variants don't even offer airbags and company fitted CD players.
So i would say it depends on market/country, i have seen some Indian specification cars from major manufacturers like VW, Fiat, Toyota..etc and some are very poor and very different from similar Middle East spec or US spec cars.

I've actually been in a good position over the years due to a job that included countless rentals, cheap daily drivers and of course my own cars.
By far the car company that constantly and relentlessly made it to the top of my list was Volkswagen, the cars were so bad, just so bad, from electronics, engine malfunctions, stalls, I had a 2008 Rabbit for 5 months and the car was changed twice due to things just failing miserably.
Chryslers were competent although a bit fuel hungry, some people including Consumer Reports classify Chrysler products as horrible cars but my experience was pretty good and they hold up well if well taken care of.
Toyotas and Hondas do everything well but tend to be a bit cookie cutter for my taste
I think that the car biz has cars that are high maintenance and low maintenance, if you drive a Mercedes thinking '' low maintenance '' it will be problems.
But VW, just wow ... and I'm saying this knowing several people with similar issues, the quality is just abysimal

Volkswagen. Their cars simply do not hold up well over time. They fool you into thinking they are well built because when the doors close they feel like a vault and when you activate the switches their movement feels damped. But they last as long as ice-cream in the sun. When they fade away you stand over them with tears in your eyes wondering what the hell just happened. But if you think about it you would probably have been better off with ice-tea instead of ice-cream for that thirst you had. Worthless pieces of garbage that people continue to get duped into.

Because laughing at a bigoted, racist, one-dimensional, hateful, un-Christian person is much more fun than finding things to copy and paste back at you (which we all know I could easily do). I do need time to do other things. By they way, I thought that you said a couple of years ago that you would never respond back to me? Not only are you the above described, you are now a LIAR.

Oh, and about the un-Christian thing, it is very obvious to everyone here that you're not Christian. If you consider yourself Christian, then you would ask yourself every time you say something here, what would Jesus do? Jesus was a compassionate, caring human being, that would not speak badly of others and would not judge. That is the exact opposite of what you are.
About the one-dimensional bit, step outside your comfort zone and live a little, learn a little more. You're obviously reading only certain types of books.

Certainly VW has not had the best reputation over the last few yrs. But i wonder if it has to do with cars coming out of Puebla,Mexico. What about the cars that come from Germany? Further with this new US plant in Tennesee would it be reasonable to assume that the US quality might be better.

Chrysler would be near the top of my list, also most anything European. As much as I love the stuff from Europe, their cars become to costly to keep on the road once they start aging.
