After Losing 15 Red Light Camera Votes In A Row - City Sues Opposing Citizens
Opponents of red light cameras and speed cameras are taking the offensive against city councils and camera vendors who have been taking extreme measures to keep the issue of automated ticketing off the ballot. A Cowlitz County, Washington superior court judge will hear arguments later today in a countersuit that accuses the city of Longview of violating an anti-SLAPP law. The state last year banned what are called "strategic lawsuits against public participation" with a measure that grants expedited court procedures to initiative sponsors and a $10,000 penalty against anyone found to be exploiting the legal system to thwart a petition drive.

"After Losing 15 Red Light Camera Votes In A Row - City Sues Opposing Citizens"
The relevant WOW factor!!
"...photo enforcement companies and their customers have redoubled efforts to keep camera issues from ever being presented to VOTERS."
And using the court system no less!! Now, why would they do that??? What's to gain here??? Do you think?? No! It can't be! Could it be for ...? No!!! Say it ain't so!!
(man, I can't seem to stuff enough sarcasm in here,...wait, yes, yes, I can squeeze more in!!)

It is all about the money. IMHO the city should never have filed the suit in the first place after 15 votes you might think of another option.

Just as a data point, Ontario, Canada used to have mobile photo-radar. The government was accused of using this as a tax grab. The opposing political party made it an election platform, and vowed to get rid of them if elected. They won by a land-slide, and photo-radar became history in Ontario. Sometimes, the system works.

bsbb, I must agree that America is becoming a police state, and yes Communism and dictatorship are both just as repressive, most people that I meet that have lived under dictatorship and are lucky enough to escape are never right wing, I can say the same about very educated people, I used to think I was right wing, I have a friend that is a dr in international affairs, and he is against right wing and communism, because both repress freedom, lets hope we both become freer, our countries fought for freedom in the past.

Is America still a democracy? Or dictatorship? Lets hope that we don't all get sued for talking out against it.

BSBB, I must disagree, Maybe you are refering to Obamma care? All you are hearing is the insurance companies spin because it makes them stop ripping you all off, I have heard many horror stories on how it used to work, that is how they wanted to stop care even though they were within the limit, If the republicans got in the only difference is there would be no Obbama care and the insurance companies would have there way with you, Have you noticed all of your homeless? In Canada most people are homeless because they are all on drugs, I was surprised when I go to America that most the homeless I see are not on drugs, and many times just divorced and layed off....very sad, definitely Capitalism, and I am all for making money...Just at what cost.

"...the United States) is basically operating under socialism."
I respectfully beg to differ! This is capitalism at its finest!!
