If You Get A DING or DENT With YOUR Car Do You NEED To Have It Fixed ASAP?

If You Get A DING or DENT With YOUR Car Do You NEED To Have It Fixed ASAP?
Maybe because of the tough economy but I've been noticing a lot more scraped, dented and dinged cars roaming our streets. Although most would likely argue that its the cheaper cars, I would counter with I've seen it on all makes and all prices.

Which strikes me as odd because usually when something happens you're suppose to get it fixed as soon as possible. I mean, unless you want a scabby-looking car that has pockets of rust here and there.

This neatly brings us to our example. An extremely rare Aston Martin DB AR1 convertible, of which 99 were built for the U.S. market. Based on the DB7, this Zagato-bodied car is highly sought after and as you can imagine, they are hard to find.

As you can see, the damage is pretty easy to see.

What we want to know though: do you see damage as a badge of shame or more of a "Eh, who cares" kind of thing?

Let us know in the comments below...

The Aston Martin DB AR1 was a limited edition Zagato-build roadster, built for the US market exclusively in 2003. 99 were built and all were sold to US customers. It was introduced at the Los Angeles Auto Show in January 2003, when it had no convertible top at all. The DB AR1 was based on the DB7 Vantage Volante and the AR1 name stands for American Roadster 1...

A dent is about the only way to give a car like that Aston more street cred than it previously had!
Wife works at the local university. If I fixed dings when they happen, I'd have to fix (2) dings a day.

On an Aston, yes. On a Ford, who cares?

Maybe they are too lazy to fix it or just waiting on insurance? I fix every ding right away. They come to your house to do it these days.

Hmmmm, methinks the Freudian theory of transference is at play here.

I work in the collision industry, and there are plenty of people who get the estimate written, collect the check from their insurer, and continue down the road.
If there is a lien on the vehicle, this may not be possible. However, they may still delay the repair, pending the gathering up of their deductibles, which are $1,000 in some cases.
So yes, from my view there are more damaged cars running around out there.

It depends on how old the car is. I have an 03' accord v6 coupe. At the time i bought it i thought it was a beautiful car and it still looks good almost nine years later. I got a few parking lot dings and got them taken out immediately. I have a knew car now and focus my attention on it. If something major happened to my honda and insurance covered it i would get it done for sure still. I dont understand those people who get their car messed, get a check and bank it, and never get it fixed.
