2011 Jeep Wrangler JK-8 Independence Package Announced
Jeep enthusiasts now have the opportunity to transform their four-door Jeep Wrangler Unlimited into a two-door pickup truck.

The manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) for the Mopar® JK-8 kit is $5,499. The kit, which comes with a three-year/36,000-mile warranty, is now available for ordering through Mopar at Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge and Ram dealerships. The warranty covers kit materials and workmanship performed at a Chrysler Group dealership.

Prior to the introduction of the JK-8 kit, Mopar introduced numerous industry-first features including in-vehicle Wi-Fi, off-road camper trailers, vehicle-information apps and an Electronic Vehicle Tracking System (EVTS). Most recently, the brand introduced its Ram Runner off-road desert-racer kit.

Mopar first revealed its JK-8 kit at this year’s Moab Jeep Safari. The kit takes cues from the popular Jeep Scrambler CJ-8 from the 1980's. Major components include a spacious 44-inch by 50-inch steel bed, inner and outer bedsides constructed from stamped sheet metal, sport bar extensions, Freedom Panel assemblies, a removable fiberglass hardtop with a sliding rear window, two fixed side windows and a fiberglass bulkhead.

Seems like there was a better looking concept of this that Chrysler created a while back.

This is a highly modified Jeep, this has at least a 4inch long arm suspension for extra flex and at least 35in tires, I like the long arm long travel suspension, but I would like to see less lift without sacrificing suspension flex, this conversion kit is for the single person, not the most practical, this will be more worthy in 2012 when a half decent motor is in the Jeep,(it will still be dated) then maybe the tow rating will be higher, Jeep needs to have less hood for more interior space, just my opinion.

They cant have less hood, its called the new safety guidelines.
You can have less flex with the suspension with the adjustable control arms and how you have your track bars setup. Thats what I did with my 1997 TJ with a 5.5" RELA kit.
If you want the real kit for this vehicle, just go to AEV Conversions. They have been doing it for years. Its called the Brute.

2ndbimmer,"They cant have less hood, its called the new safety guidelines" what about mini vans? they are safe, also many small cars have very small hoods like the HONDA CIVIC .....and they are safe, and yes the jeep looks great now, and a shorter hood wouldn't look as good, but would perform better off road and give more interior space, the Jeep has a very small interior for a big vehicle, and yes I want a 2012 with the slightly more powerful motor, I think you meant to say that with the longer control arms that it would have more flex, how do you find 5.5 inches of lift? Tippy? I have had a few lifted 4x4s, my 1976 Bronco had a home made 6in lift, very scary, I would never do that again, but surprisingly my toyotas with less lift were tippyer.
