Is THIS The Final Design Of The Next BMW 3-Series?
With all the coincidental pieces of information hitting the web regarding the next generation BMW 3-Series, we can't help but surmise that BMW will be officially issuing launch releases in the next 30 days.
Here is the latest and what I call the BEST rendered speculation of the car from autogaleria.pl.
If this is it, are you in LUST?

What Happened to BMW? I know, I will get deboosted for this but here goes anyways. Bmw used to make decent looking cars like the e46 m3 (which is my favorite car of all time) and even some of the new Ms look good but their new direction of design with the more squared headlights and big front grill is ruining the brand for me. WTH is a 5 series GT? who is idiotic enough to even consider that car. The way I see it they started to focus on making SUVs and less on the design of the cars that made them who they are. I loved you BMW......Loved.

All they care about is selling the most cars in the US. They want to beat Lexus and this year they will.....

From the dexigner link:
"So it's like a global approach to looking at future design trends and recognising the fact that Asia is going to be one of the three big poles in the economic development - North America, Central Europe and Asia."
I would counter - design comes from individual genius. What you need is a small, talented team living in the woods for a couple years with their clay models and a photo book of BMW's best designs of the past. And preferably no modern influences at all.

If this photo of the headlight is any indication of the new 3 series, it's really a step backward in design.

I hope this is just a joke and that the final production BMW 3-Series does NOT look like this. The last BMW 3-Series look the best and this new with the pictures above with the square lights and Huge lower front bumper look really UGLY and Cheap.
I was really considering getting either a BMW 3-Series or Audi S4/S5 for my next car but after I saw the pictures of the new BMW 3-Series (I hope it won't look like this for the production model.) I have to go with a Audi S4/S5. If BMW keep design UGLY cars like this and the 5-Series GT, Audi or MB will be the #1 selling from German.
Man those square headlights and big lower bumper grill are Freaking UGLY.......!

I'm hoping that the photo above is actually the 1 series. It really looks like it.

Rear of the 5 + front of the 1 = the new 3.

Why so many creases?! Why can't BMW simply place a few lines, and leave the rest be?! I know, this is a speculative render, but from previous spyshots, the rear (which is actually good-looking) and side of this render are a dead ringer (and the hood will likely have those superfluous creases BMW now places on every new model). Who thought it was a great idea to have a strong crease so close to the beltline, and then have it angle away from said beltline?! (artist here; pardon my fuss).
BMW outperforms the competition, but it doesn't have to be at the expense of fluid, faultless design, such as this:

I don't mind the new 3 being a smaller 5. I have always thought teh 5 was the right BMW. Not tooo big not too small. The best engine options and what not. But the new front end is really not working for me.

I don't think the design will be that close to the 5 series. Look the at the rear end, it is indistinguishable.

I must deboost you all for daring to criticize the almighty BMW. They can do no wrong and to speak anything but positive words about them is blasphemy! You shall all be deboosted for negative posts and accused of being an Audi or Lexus fan extremist! Only being a BMW extremist is acceptable because we dont recognize we are just as guilty about our brand as them... <end sarcasm> Have a great day!

You shoudn't even bother stressing <sarcasm> when you write, because it's always obvious the bitterness and irony in your words.
Back to the topic at hand, I don't believe the design will go that route, the rear lights are identical to the new 5 and the headlights are weird andkind of droopy.I did not like the new 1 series front and rear design, so I hope they don't eff up this one too.I love that brand, but sometimes they drive me nuts!

Cars are designed with MARKETS in mind now. Before a BMW or Mercedes would have a very Germanic/Teutonic design, conservative, yet also dynamic and elegant and understated. These days cars are designed for major markets. That's all there is to it.

I forgot to mention that the BMW 3 series was never a very radical car in terms of design. It was always conservative and sporty looking and each generation evolved from the next in a way that it looked like a new car, but was still identifiable as a 3er.

I dont think itll look bad. Sure is appealing more to the masses and less exciting, but i think the m-treatment will step it up. Just like the 5-series, I think the new 3-series will have a more sophisticated, clean demeanor.
i blacked out what i think the headlights will look like in the following shot. check it out.
