Ve Beetle R will get 270 hp... but not in the United State
The upcoming Beetle R that will be offered in Europe will be fitted with a 2.0-liter turbocharged powerplant that will have an output of 270hp. Many fans got disappointed when we announced recently that the vehicle will not have the same power rating as the Golf R and Scirocco R and that it would only be able to manage 240hp.

that's pretty impressive, but most likely too expensive for the U.S. market.

I don't get it...VW wants an ever increasing share of the US market but it keeps its hotest cars (Sirocco, R model Beetle, etc) from the market and enthusists who everyone knows talks up the brands they love, generating more sales of lower priced models. No guts no glory VW.
