Does the S3 only have 2 doors? It's a coupe? I don't see a second set of door handles in this pic.

Yes, probably not coming over here. But the 2.0 TFSI engine with 260-272 hp probably will with the TT S verrsion.

Yes, Yes. Hatches/Wagons are popular in America, but here they are called Sport Utility Vehicles, whatever that means.

just thinking, do you get any estate versions, like a camry estate (for example) or an impala wagon? is that why you buy loads of suvs, there aren't any estates?
do you have any city cars? like a vw polo? you don't get any french cars, nor seat or fiat, so i'm guessing no....the french make the best small cars, you should get them. it would solve the fuel crisis instantly.

Rupert, why would one need an "estate" when you can get an SUV. The answer is not to all of your questions. There used to be an Accord/Camry wagon estate in your speak but not anymore. Small cars here are a recent discovery.

if i was in charge of a manufacturer i'd try and introduce estates that cost less than the equivalent suv. it could be like the 50s again when the estates were huge and seated 9. stylised boxes could be back, a bit like the ford fairlane concept. more long and low wagons. a cadillac dts estate (for example) could happen. it could be like the 59 series 62 wagon of the 50s. this site has a load of 50's adverts for cars and wagons, the wagons were the equivalent of today's suvs.

i think in 10 years the suv market will be in decline, muscle cars will be back, so will big coupes and hopefully huge wagons.

Estate's or (station)wagons as they are called here in the states used to be very popular back in the 70's and 80's. When the SUV craze hit these shores the wagons just couldn't keep up with the capability of the SUVs. Though I drive an SUV I do love the estate models that some manufacturer's produce. The BMW 3-Series estate was a wonderful car but the X5 killed that.

the reason that wagons are not popular in the US like they are in Europe and the rest of the world is that the CAFE standards alowed the better cars to be the SUVs. Trucks don't have the same MPG and emission laws so it is easier to make a SUV (Truck) then a wagon.

If the SUV is faster and bigger then people want it. People in the US remember the last wagon they owned was Mom's 1968 crapwagon so that brings bad memories.

The A6 avant, A4 avant, 5 series wagons etc are mutch better then the car versions but BMW, MEC and Audi saves most of their Wagons for their own market where they have problems keeping up with demand. I work for a large Audi dealer and we usualy have less then a 1/2 dozen A4 or a6's in stock if any at all.

The A3 has sold well though even though Audi dosen't support it with lease options. I think Audi is smart in not bringing a 40+ k S3 here.

Yeah, the S3 will be a hrad sell in the US at that price point. They are going to sell an S-Line package for the A3 though. No new engine options though.

i completely agree elsparquito. think of how much less suv-like modern suvs are ie mazda cx7. they are getting lower, soon they will be awd estates and nothing more.

Is the S3 AWD, FWD or RWD? Couldn't find out anywhere else. Would be pimpin if it is AWD, then they could release an RS3, would be a bad a$$ daily driver that could double as your track car. Could probably even carry your race rims to the track with you.
