UAW Continues Quest To Unionize Foreign Automakers, But Is It Too Little Too Late?

UAW Continues Quest To Unionize Foreign Automakers, But Is It Too Little Too Late?
UAW President Bob King has staked his reputation and the union's future growth on winning votes to represent workers at foreign auto plants, which are predominately in the southeastern United States. He declined to say how many or with which companies the union is negotiating.

"To our pleasant surprise a lot of companies have agreed to confidential discussions with us. What they'll lead to, I don't know," King said in a telephone interview on Tuesday.

Foreign plants because they have already exhausted the supply of domestic applicants? Aren't they just a small percentage of the workforce now?

The headline could read, "UAW Continues Quest To Unionize Foreign Automakers Operating in the United States", since they're already unionized in their home markets and are now seeking cheap labor in the U.S.

That said, Bob King is a globalist traitor to UAW members and all working people in the U.S. Hopefully the UAW charter will be followed, (retirement at age 65) and he'll be gone after a single, disasterous term.

Mr. King should have a 1-slide PowerPoint presentation that simply states "Let us do for you what we've done for The Big Three!" Any questions?

The *ONLY* people who are pro-union are: (1) laborers who can't do better, so they need goons to extort companies on their behalf, (2) union goons who get paid to represent the first group, and (3) crooked politicians (isn't that a redundant definition?) who buy votes from the first two groups. To state the obvious, to consumers and business owners (including share-holders), unions are a big bag of hurt.

Hah! Good luck in unionizing foreign auto makers. They'll just pack up and leave.

I have just finished test driving the new Passat TDI.

I like the styling inside and out.

The car handles well and the diesel engine has plenty of power.

The fit and finish is excellent.

However, if the VW employees in Tennessee sign up with the UAW, I will NOT BUY THE CAR.

CARS ARE FUN

As long as the non-union autoworkers are getting a better compensation package than the unions, the unions will not convince people to join.
