RENDERED SPECULATION: Porsche Ramping Up New Models Into 2018 -- What You Should Expect
According to sources, it seems like Porsche really is doing a major expansion in terms of models and where its future is heading. So much so that it will be debuting a new model every year into 2018. For any automaker that's a healthy endeavor, even if you're a blue-chip firm.

Let's look at the list of what's to come:
  • Baby Boxster (551 Spyder?)
  • Pajun
  • Top-level performance Porsche (think: 959)
  • Expanded Panamera lineup
  • Cajun
  • New Boxster/Cayman
  • New Cayenne
  • 918 Spyder
Long story short, it's going to be a helluva ride. WHICH vehicles strike your fancy and have you interested?

After doing some debating and figuring out what goes where, I think it's no contest. The most intriguing vehicle out of this lineup will be the 551 reborn. That's because it is said to be under development with Volkswagen and Audi -- who will be producing their own variants -- and it will be a car that speaks to the purity of Porsche.

Also, it will be interesting to see how Porsche plays the Cajun. Will it feature five doors or three? Will it square up against the 2012 Range Rover Evoque or will it go even sportier?

As long as it's affordable and doesn't diminish the fun, I don't care if the prestige goes down to likes of BMW.

The Pajun to me is the most interesting. It would be a smaller 4dr version of the Panamera. So I'm guessing it could then be a 5 series,C class,A6,XF rival as opposed to the Panamera being the S class,7 series,A8,and XJ rival. Assuming this car comes out it is really showing that Porsche's overall intention is to become a full portfolio car line to rival Mercedes,BMW,Audi ,and now Jaguar.People will always complain of it being diluted. However car makers like Ferrari, Lamborghini,Aston Martin etc. are all tiny in size and are either owned by a large car maker conglomerate or wealthy arab investors. Non are capable of truly surviving on their own. Porsche, had they not mistimed the market and failing economy would have owned VW.Had they not made the large investment into VW they would have remained independent. The only way they could have done this was to sufficiently expand beyond the sportscar line. Further Porsche's market has historically been more mass production and at a significantly lower price point then any of the car makers I just listed. Further It is my opinion that Porsche has always had a desire to be a more rounded car line. They never had the financial where with all to expand like the German luxury 3 have. With VAG they can now achieve this goal a lot quicker because of the sharing of VW platforms. Again this is nothing new if you look back at the 914 and 924 they both originated as VAG projects that Porsche eventually took over.
