Who Makes The Most "American" Cars Out There?

Who Makes The Most

Buy American it has a nice, nationalistic, flag-waving sound to it. But the problem is, there is not much to buy anymore (car-wise or otherwise) that’s truly American.

Chrysler , for instance, is now controlled by Italian automaker Fiat. And before that, Chrysler was a subsidiary of another foreign industrial conglomerate, Germany’s Daimler AG.Recent Chrysler-badged cars like the popular 300-series sedan and the not-quite-so-popular Crossfire coupe were basically custom-bodied knock-offs of Mercedes-Benz designed vehicles (the E-Class sedan and SLK roadster), fitted with Chrysler-built engines.

This guy didn't do his homework. Nissan isn't buying anything from Dodge. That deal went away 2 years ago. This author's credibility is now shot. Nissan is building the next Titan in house.

Our dumb-ass politicians are the ones that wave the flag when it comes time for elections. This whole thinking is so yesterday.

What it should be - is that the design, standards and control systems should have a profound American stamp on them regardless of brand or nationality. Something similar to operating systems in the mobile world and aviation standards. It then doesn't matter who or where the cars are built, the brain-trust stays in America.
