Is 6mpg less really caving out? One would always ask for more and expect less.

Cafe standards are weak. Apparently Kia and Honda have already achieved 37mpg yet the only vehicles they sell that can hit above that mark on the combined cycle is the civic hybrid, and the insight, and I highly doubt the limited sales of those vehicles should affect their final rating much.

Agent009,

I am sure you must reveling in this. I can imagine your imagination running wild " Obama has caved! Obama has caved!! we may win the next election", it must be really lonely there isn't it.

If I'm not mistaken, isn't the CAFE standards different from the EPA ratings, in that 54mpg CAFE =/= 54 EPA?

54mpg CAFE ~= 40mpg EPA

2025 - lol. That's over a decade of innovation for batteries. I'd be very surprised if we don't have the capability for 500 miles of range by then.

At 54 it is still unreasonably high and completely unnecessary.

How is that? Isn't it in your interest to have improved MPG standard?

Diesels already make this rating in Europe. Lower your ===> blocking emission standards.
