Consumer Reports Delivers A Kick In The Groin After Reviewing New Civic
Honda recently rolled out a new, redesigned version of its ultra-popular Civic compact car, but according to Consumer Reports magazine it's actually worse than the old one. In fact, it's the first Civic ever to score too low to earn the magazine's recommendation.

"While other models like the Hyundai Elantra have gotten better after being redesigned, the Civic has dropped so much that now it ranks near the bottom of its category," said David Champion, senior director of Consumer Reports' Auto Test Center.

The Honda is a 7 year old design, that isn't as old as some in here like the Corola.

That's the ONLY redeeming thing about the Civic. It's no longer a "good deal" even.

Let's face currently Honda is one of the most boring brands going.

I'm glad this happened. Hopefully it will give them a kick in the rear to get things going.

That's a big knock considering that more consumers are influenced by Consumer Reports recommendations than any other online publication.

Honda used to be a "bullet proof" brand. No more!

Yes the Civic is boring, but I think this CR is a bit biased, sure it is loud, but isn't it quieter than before? I want to see numbers to back up opinions before I believe any bias, Also It is probably still reliable? The front pillars are smaller too for better visibility.

So people are influenced by Consumer Reports? Wasn't this the same publication that lambasted Toyota a few years ago, yet Toyota went on to record their usual segment-leading sales numbers? Pulease...Consumer Reports' opinions are insignificant. Not saying that they are right or wrong...just saying that people will buy what they want to buy or what they can afford to buy, no matter what CR or any other publication says.

I have less faith in CR now, they have hit an all time low here, What about the 20 plus year old Corola, nothing mentioned on this, I bet it is suggested too, and I bet the Civic beats it in everything, more efficient, faster slalom speed, newer design, safer...maybe the Corola is quieter?

According to CR Civic has better fuel consumption than anything except the Corolla. Apparently the Corolla is quieter as well. Safety is the same....so newer and faster slalom speed means better in your eyes? Don't get me wrong...I think Civic is a great car. But your 20 plus year old Corolla comment makes no sense.

Toyota should have been black balled years ago for there engine sludge problems, just google it, there are pages upon pages of problems, then try it with other brands like Honda, still Toyota will pop up, there has to be some pay off somewhere for the lies to continue, money people own the media, they tell us all what we should drive,eat....and what is good.

Honda is not the Honda of the past. Say what you want but July sales tells the tale and there has been a downward trend for their brand.

Too bad some are so blinded by fantasy that they are unable to see facts.

I always like to go by the facts as opposed to opinions, let me start on the negative on Honda, boring, lots of road noise, the all wheel drives have issues with there one speed transfer cases....any thing else? on the positive side they are one of the safest vehicles in there classes, sposty, efficient...please add to the list, what Japanese vehicle is truly exiting with exception to the GTR and some of the sporty Lexus models? and the Lexus is barely hitting the exiting in the looks department.
