Lexus Leaving the Geritol Set Behind? Major Revisions Across The Entire Line Up Planned

Lexus Leaving the Geritol Set Behind? Major Revisions Across The Entire Line Up Planned

Lexus sales have slipped behind BMW and Mercedes this year, but the next few years will show what kind of counterpunch Toyota's luxury brand can deliver.

The passenger-car lineup will be made over by the spring of 2013, as the GS, ES, IS and LS sedans will all be either redesigned or re-engineered.

But there are challenges. Executives and engineers say they need to remove some of the numbness from Lexus sedan handling without losing the floaty freeway ride that buyers expect.

Yeah, but if they can keep what they're known for and drive better. What's there to lose?

1-10 or just a simple "analog" dial would be pretty cool to see in a car.

All Reviews of new GS have been very positive so far. All agrees that Lexus have greatly improved the performance and handling of the new GS.
If the new GS retains the traditional Lexus luxury and quality plus added BMW like performance and handling it will be a great package. Lexus also have been very aggressive with the design so good luck Lexus.

Every brands wants to be BMW like, based on sales consumers are opting to just buy the real thing not the shiny plastic, floating, 1995 buick like handling imitation...

"the floaty freeway ride that buyers expect" -- Not this buyer. Hmmm. maybe that explains why I've driven BMWs for over 14 years, why Audi has my attention, and why Lexus is not for me.

The sedan lineup is quite old, the styling has aged fairly well but the next generations are needed.

Why does everyone keep saying this? In NO defense to Lexus, this is just the facts:

Currently on sale today...

BMW 3-series (2005 release, 2006 MY)
Lexus IS (2005 release, 2006 MY)

BMW 5-series (ALL NEW 2011 - replaced car that was introduced in 2003)
Lexus GS (2005 release, 2006 MY)

BMW 7-series (ALL NEW 2011 - replaced car that was...well, I have no clue, they gave the last gen so many face-lift's I lost track)
Lexus LS (2007 release, 2008 MY)

*I apologize for any errors although I believe this is pretty accurate*
