Slow Death Or A Cat With Nine Lives? Saab Gains Yet Another Lifeline

Swedish Automobile , the owner of cash-strapped carmaker Saab which is scrambling to pay workers and restart production, said an investment fund will take a substantial stake following a new share issue.

The Swedish car manufacturer has lurched from one cash crisis to another in recent months, and was forced to halt production at its factory in April because its suppliers refused to deliver parts until their bills were settled.

Saab would be a good name for a cat!

If I were a prospecting investor... which I'm not... I would buy a controlling share in SAAB and dissolve the company. Assuming SAAB's intellectual property and assets outweigh their debts and my investment. Otherwise I wouldn't touch the thing with a 10' pole.

This is the slowest death. What's next, is GM going to buy them again?

SAAB is worth saving regardless of what the uninformed think.

SAAB needs a guarantee on the warranties of new cars. From 2009 and below, GM runs the repair/service business of SAAB, so those model years' warranties are safe. From 2010 on, the new company is responsible. If a buyer had a guarantee, then the purchase would be a better bet. They're making great cars now, so it would seem that's all they need. Does anyone know if such a guarantee already exists?
