Who Is Lying Now? UAW And Automakers Disagree On Who Wants To Meet

United Auto Workers' President Bob King said Wednesday that the "vast majority" of foreign carmakers in the U.S. have agreed to confidential meetings with the union about organizing nonrepresented workers at transplant factories.

The organizing drive, which King rolled out last year, is crucial to the UAW's self-preservation after years of declining membership. It also will loom large over contract talks under way between the union and the Detroit automakers.

Several foreign automakers, including Honda Motor Co., BMW AG and Toyota Motor Corp., said they have neither agreed to nor have they had discussions with the UAW. Volkswagen of America said Monday the union hasn't contacted management at its Chattanooga plant, which opened in May.

Sounds like Bob wants to "look" like he is actually going somewhere with his work. Good for the car companies for setting him in his place.

Agent009 is lying as usual.
And the Cretin-Redneck strikes again with another sensational thread- you are truly pitiful, don't you have shame Agent009?

@ Autospies2. It is not an insult with respect to Agent009 but rather a compliment. I can't insult Agent009, it is practically impossible to do so.
It is reserved for political hacks masquerading as auto-enthusiast regardless of where they stand on the ideological divide.
Agent009 has worked so hard to merit it:it will be a shame to deny him his well-deserved title.

@ Joe_limon.
I think you need to include political hacks to that class.

instead of calling names why don't you prove he is lying. Objectivity is not a bad in a debate. Unless you are in fact lying and trying to mask it with empty words.

He can meet with as many of the non-UAW automakers he wants to; that doesn't say they're going to employ a union in their plant. Why would anyone want to add to the cost of producing their vehicle. These UAW buffoons are a dying breed. They once served a purpose during the "sweat-shop" days. All they are now are a bunch of posturing, pot smoking idiots who know their "Gravy Train Express" has left the station.

sorry to bust your bubble but world wide there are far more union plants than non union.

UAW_LAX: You're NOT bursting my bubble. I never said that non UAW plants out numbered UAW plants. The point is: UAW membership has declined significantly over the years. Here's a link that discusses how membership in the UAW has gone down. As many folks have stated on different blogs, the UAW isn't what it use to be.
