STUD or DUD: Is Mazda's CX-5 Going To Take Down The RAV4, CR-V And Tiguan?
Although Mazda's had a tough quarter, according to The Truth About Cars, the brand lost more than $320 million in Q2. Hopefully, the all-new CX-5 will turn those frowns upside down.

Not only did the Mazda shine at the 2011 New York Auto Show, it seemed to win over you guys, the AutoSpies faithful.

With that said, if it met your expectations -- which we know are tough -- does this Mazda have what it takes to take down the competition?

When you think about it, the CX-5's rivals aren't that strong to begin with so now that Mazda has brought out a fresh product maybe it can become a leader in this segment...

So, is the all-new CX-5 a STUD or DUD?

Mazda’s first production car to come equipped with both its radical range of SkyActiv chassis, engine and transmission technologies and its new Kodo design language will be the new Mazda CX-5 SUV.

Previewed in these official images ahead of the Frankfurt motor show, the new CX-5 is based on Mazda’s new modular platform and suspension set-ups that can be used as a base on any Mazda between the 3 and CX-7 in size...

It's a little bland & conservative, but it is far from a bad design. For this vehicle to sell well for Mazda, they only have to make sure it undercuts it's competitors. The Rav4 has gotten too fat over the years.

It looks pretty good, better than the outgoing model to me. I think this will look simular to the upcomng Ford Escape however I believe the Escape will look much better based on the concept and spy shots (esp the front of it).
