What's The MOST Overrated SUV For The 2011, 2012 Model Year?

I know I'm gonna get flamed for this, but I still do not understand the Cadillac Escalades. A Denali variant has pretty much everything at a cheaper price. The only reason I see for it is image.

"What would happen if we charged 60k for a 4 cylinder Ford Edge?"

Answer- The Evoque.

Is it nice? Yes. Is it hot looking? Yes. Is it worth 50-60k? No.

This is what we call overrated hype.

-Porsche Cayenne- That requires an explanation as its sold out right now and also the horse that carried Porsche to a 59% profit surge Y-T-D over last year.

The Cayenne is selling like hotcakes b/c IMHO its the car every cayenne buyer wanted in the 1st place since they first sold cayennes. It's better looking exterior, vastly improved interior and better perf. & milage through weight loss. So how is it overrated.... b/c for 15-20k less the equivalent X5 still beats it in every category. BMW's turbo 6 is better than the V6 in the Porsche. The ttv8 in the X5 5.0 is incredible and the X5M dusts off a Cayenne Turbo, which...can sell for upwards of $130k!!!

Driven various models of both and there is simply no appreciable handling advantage to the porsches. People simply love the badge....A good an SUV as it is, that makes it overrated in my book.

Actually the SUX wasn't based on a Taurus, it was based on a 77 Oldsmobile cutlass.

Porsche Cayenne and Land Rover Range Rover. It seems it's all about the badge these days. Although, I must admit, the Evoque is really good looking.

So, you dislike the REAL thing but give kudos to the city-slicker wannabe CUV?

I remember when station wagons were the vehicle of choice for hauling the wife and kids around. Of course that was before no one was interested in hiding being married with children: enter the SUV, which in my opinion is another word for station wagon. Bottom-line I think the smaller SUV's are utilitarian but the over-rated unnecessarily oversized variety such as the Cadillac mistake-alade, Tahoe, Yukon, Excursion, etc ad nauseum are at the zenith of being over-rated!
