Marchionne Says UAW Shouldn't Hold Their Breath On A Board Seat
The heads of Chrysler and the United Auto Workers union get along, but Fiat and Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne rejects the idea of “co-determination.”

The German method of union-management relations, in which union members sit on company supervisory boards, has UAW President Bob King’s support.

Marchionne rejects it on principle.

It's really cute that the UAW thinks they deserve members on the executive board. The reality is that the UAW has been coddled by the US Big3 in the past & should only consider being involved only as far up as the President or CEO of any auto company.

The UAW doesn't necessarily add to the overall corporate profits, the organization's primary goal is to ensure that its members can get paid more or receive more benefits than non-members. If that means "fcukg" everybody else, then they're willing to live with it. When the UAW is told that the union doesn't make sense to supporting the bottom-line, they assume the corporate structure doesn't like them.

Based on what the UAW has been doing, they don't seem to realize that profits are slim and almost every available dollar should be used for R&D to designs and regulated technology.
