Are Hybrids And Electrics Ever Going To Appeal To Anything Other Than The Upper Middle Class?
The Prius is an emblem of the environmentally aware upper middle class, and at this point, electric vehicle purchases are mostly limited to early adopters who have the cash to experiment with an entirely new kind of vehicle. And according to a
report
(PDF) from the Greenlining Institute, cost and lack of consumer education may shut low-income communities and communities of color (specifically in California) out of the electric vehicle revolution--even though these communities are in dire need of the cleaner air that comes along with having fewer gasoline-fueled cars on the road.

infrastructure complaints are bs, ev and plug in use would lower infrastructure needs by allowing power plants to consistently operate at a most efficient power output. Daily fluctuations would be absorbed by the net of batteries.

If California is serious about the cleaning its air quality, the infrastructures for this type of vehicle should be fast tracked. Last I heard, sadly, California is bankrupt. As for other states which are not bankrupt, these infras should already be on-going.
