After a product lineup revamp in 2011, Chrysler Group is preparing to open the second act of its revival next year, unveiling the first Chrysler Group-branded vehicle unit based on a Fiat platform and powered by a Fiat engine -- a Dodge compact sedan, the replacement for the Caliber. Bill most likely has already done his victory dance. Chrysler had the highest sales increase of all and with less incentives. Just sayin. :)

Yes-With Marchionne Chrysler is starting to really turn around. I think you can expect some exciting products in the next couple of years in the B and C segment cars. The 500 is selling well also with nearly 8000 cars through the end of July. Further most people are optioning out these cars so that bodes well with the used car market.I'm looking ofrward to Alfa returning.

This who article is stolen by 4wheelnews (uncredited) from Automotive News. But that's besides the point.

When a vehicle has a wider floor pan, longer wheelbase (as the full article reveals) different engines, transmissions, tires, outer panels and interior, is it still a Fiat? Or is this just the BS sold to the public/government who would prefer to trust anything/one that sounds European?

I don't think so. The platforms are not all Fiat and Chrysler has already made leaps and bounds as far as a come back. Look at the new 300, charger, challenger that will have the ZF 8spped that will get 33 mpg with the new 300 hp V6. This is just one of many. The Ram outsold Ford in Canada which is a first and are close on the heals to Chevy in the states. The Journey is first in its segment in canada and selling better than expected in the states and we all know about the GC and Durango. None of these have anything to do with Fiat platforms. I believe the Fiat platforms will be icing on the cake.

The Fiat platforms are very important because they will make up the B,C and D segment platforms for Chrysler and Dodge as well as a compact SUV. That's 1/2 their vehicle lineup.

Fiat is making C & D segment platforms? Since when?

So the next $25,000 Charger will be based on the Maserati Quattroporte? lol

Better check your facts my friend, Fiat is already re-badging 200s & 300s as Lancia models, not the other way around.

1c3am5-I'm talking about the new platforms coming on line in 2013 to replace the current 200/Avenger,Calaber etc models. Anything E and up are based on Chrysler architecture and are RWD based. Anything D and below are FWD and based on Fiat architecture. All this starts for the 2013 model yr.Yes, your right, currently Fiat has been badging Chryslers as Lancia's(the Fiat Freemont is a Dodge Journey etc.)But from D down all this changes in 2013.
