Are Concept Cars A Glimpse Of The Future Or Just A Waste Of Time?

The 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show is just around the corner, giving the world's press and gearheads all around the world a chance to glimpse into the future as carmakers unveil their latest concept vehicles.

We're already looking forward to the 2014 BMW i3 urban electric car and i8 plug-in hybrid concepts, Land Rover is expected to unveil a hint towards a future Defender replacement and we've just caught wind of the Audi E1 e-tron concept, spotted in Berlin.

Concept cars are a good method of gauging public response to a very wide display of potential design cues. It also allows designers at the major car companies practice their creativity without being hindered by the bean counters.

"Civic is good looking enough for KIA to build a total rip off copy"

A total rip off copy? 100%? Really? Where but the headlights is the Forte 100% ripped off of the boring Civic? Tailights? Greenhouse? side profiles? The 2006 Civic's C pillars copied the 2004 Suzuki Verona's C pillars. The Forte's C pillars are slanted like the CTS, 1st generation Lexus IS, 2004 Camry, Pontiac G6 and 2005 Accord. Or even the interiors? Nope sorry try again buddy. Oh yeah but you can tell Honda to give the Mazda 6's side profiles from the Acura ZDX. also tell Honda to give back the BMW 3 series C pillars. And lastly tell Honda to give back the Scion XB's back end on the Pilot.
