2012 Toyota Camry leaked in Canadian auto guide
Trying to keep a floodgate closed is no easy task. Just ask any automaker releasing embargoed images of a new car coming out. When it's something as prolific as a new Toyota Camry, it's bound to get out like water through cracked concrete. And in this case, it's gotten out of our French Canadian neighbors to the north.

While Toyota has been releasing tightly-cropped teaser images of its new bread-and-butter family sedan, showing little more than the head and tail lights, the new annual auto guide has come out in Quebec, complete with full-frame shots of the new Camry for all the poutine-slurping, hockey-watching world to see.

Headlights look like Acura TSK. Overall design is evolutionary and an improvement IMO. Pictured car is most likely SE variant. Interior looks nice too, inspired by new Toyota Land cruiser Prado interior.

Looks like a bigger Corolla to me. It makes the VW Passat seem like a car from tommorrow. Boring bland design both inside and out.

Did you just compare this to the new Passat and call the Camry bland?!

If anything, the new Passat is trying to be more bland appeal to the Camry crowd.

Looks like they're finally getting their quality together, again. Interior looks way better than the current model. I'll save judgement until I see one in person. So far, they're on the right track.

The "teasing" that went into this car's intro now looks absurd. Its like after an hour of teasing, the woman behind the veil is revealed to be Patty from accounting.

Sigh! another lost opportunity.

I'm glad that they are slimming down that horrendous sack bulge on the front bumper, makes the car look a lot slimmer and more attractive without it.

And more aerodynamic, a la Mazda6

They copied a 5 year old TSX, why are they so dumb.

I don't know what Subaru Outback you saw but that is not even close. I take offense because that is the only thing I really like on this car. I'll give you the head light but you're really just stating the obvious. What I don't love is the same body or the face of this car it looks a little alien to me. The back I like and can't really see the interior in those crappy pictures. Regardless it looks decent enough on paper but person it might be a home run... or a bowl of crap time will tell.

the review is absolutely stellar, and this is one of the veterans here in Canada, he mentions that they've managed to make it a much more involving drive, due to a new type of oil the efficency and power are more interestuing and a new foam makes the car even quieter than the last one. In closing he mentions that the car feels more grounded and people who love Camrys will love them even more while those who don't finally have a reason to.

AFAIK that's good stuff

Oh, look a new Camry! The new "Lexus ES350" is not far behind now. Lame.

Still a seriously boring looking car. Can't they get their sh*t together and make an exciting looking car? I know they're good cars, but come on! This will not be turning any heads when it hits streets. FAIL!

With other cars looking more "stylish" in this segment (Sonata, Optima for example), it's not shocking Toyota stayed the course and went with bland. It's selling, so don't rock the boat. Get ready for more beige/sand colored Camry's littering the road! I've said before to friends, Toyota's are cars for people who want a reliable car, but they lack any creativity or imagination!

I have an 08 Camry and this doesn't look as good as my car. Don't like the front or rear end nor the interior. That being said this thing will sell like hotcakes.
Fellas... deboost away!!!

Wow!! Way to step out there Toyota and challenge the Sonata. This is one boring and ugly car. I can see the Acura TSX front end a little. The Honda bird beak designers should have coffee with the bland Toyota designers and talk about their next boring car they will both design.

A big Corolla was my first thought exactly when I saw it. Leave it to Toyota to go out of their way to remain the most conservative designs on the road today... and they'll sell a bunch of them. Toyota's new slogan should be "Because your grandma drives one... and you hate that whole Hyundai renaissance..."

I like it. It definitely has more character than previous generation Camry’s. Plus the interior is surprisingly nice. Much nicer than the boring passat, and the design is not to far out there like Hyundais.

I'll take the boring Passat any day of the week over this. I think boring is the wrong word. Rather conservative is more appropriate. As for this "new" Camry it's styling is simply a rehash of what has come before. The front frill is new but it echos what has come before and the car in general looks a lot like a Corolla. I am sure this is completley intentional by Toyota. They are trying to get Corolla buyers to move up. It's a reasonable strategy if Toyota can hang on to their customers. I understand its customer loyalty has taken a bit of a hit lately though. Somthing about sticking floor mats I believe.......................................................

Weak strategy.

When I first saw this, I thought it was a photoshopped pic with Acura TSX headlights. This is not an improvement imo. I swear this looks ten yrs old already.
