At What Price Point Would The Cadillac Converj Have To Be At For YOU To Consider Owning One?
General Motors is reportedly reversing an earlier decision and has now green-lighted a Cadillac version of the Chevrolet Volt extended-range electric car.

The Caddy version would reportedly be based on a Volt-like concept car, the Converj, that showed up the North American International Auto Show in 2009, made a stir, then disappeared.

I agree. I would much rather see that same design in four door at that price though.

Unless GM is going to make it rwd with the front wheels being driven by a hybrid power and a substantial boost in performance, there is nothing GM can do to "dress-up" a volt to convince me to buy it.

Agreed. GM should greenlighted this project before the Volt. Now they have to aggressively justify the vehicles cost. GM may have to get creative with the powertrain on this one. Maybe include the magnetic suspension and some high-end interior options to keep overall interest at high levels.

I would caution them about this car. The current trend for Cadillac is rear drive...stress the rear drive. I think if they were able to make the Converj a rear engined version of the Volt then fine. I think that idea would sail pretty well. Of course there is perhaps no way that GM would spend the necessary funds to retool the chassis for a rear-engine setup, but I just figured it would be worth it in the long run. Otherwise all the work that Lutz put into bringing the company back to some degree of profitability would have been for naught and would see GM falling back into the old days of badge-engineering.

This car isn't for me at any price. The styling is a big stop-sign, to my eyes.

as long as they can make it perform even if range is affected they can be around 70k no problem The only other competition is tesla which is in that range with no driver accomodation and the volt and leaf are positioned lower anyways... The rest are from lexus bmw audi which are between 150k and 400k. they can easilly find them a sub par niche as long as performance is not a issue

wouldn't this compete with the upcoming i8? If it had notable performance gains over the volt.
