Panoramic Glass Roofs Stealing Convertible Sales
Auto buyers are trading the open air for high-tech glass.

Ford Motor Co. reported that sales of vehicles with so-called vista or panoramic roofs are soaring.

About half the buyers of its Explorer and Edge sport-utility vehicles and about a third of its Flex upright station wagon buyers are purchasing the option — essentially a long, sweeping sunroof or two skylight-like panels. The glass roof upgrade can cost as much as $1,600.

I love the panoramic roof in my Audi Q7. But it does not steal from the feeling of my open top Mustang GT vert.

agreed... dumb article... Also, most of the vehicles mentioned are not even the same. convertibles tend to be more expensive, and I'm sure a Ford Edge or Ford Explorer shopper is not looking at a E-Class convertible or the likes. Theres a reason they are picking the SUV...

I could see if it compared 911 Targa to 911 Cabs or E-Class convertibles to E-Class with panoramic roof, but even then, the comparison is different because of the price point... Convertibles tend to be more expensive, so panoramic roofs will be the preferred choice for people looking to spend less...
