Will BMW & Mercedes-Benz or any other mainstream auto manufacturer ever dethrone Audi as the company with the best interiors in the industry?

With Audi accepted as the auto industry's benchmark for having the best interiors in terms of ergonomics, materials quality, feel, look, layout as well as fit & finish will any premium luxury company ever catch Audi in the next 5 years?

I test drove an A6 last week and I was very supprised at how nice the interiors have gotten (even over their previous A6). For the longest time I wanted a E-Class because I like their interior, but there's just something about the design of the A6 that makes me lean more towards it. I also like that they've gone with a full color drivers screen (rather then the red LED) and the buttons just have a nice quality.

For me it's really hard to chose between an A6 or a E-Class interior. But personally both are worlds ahead of the 5-series interior.

BMW is certainly one of the best fit and finish, as well as the most unique interiors out there, but I have to give a hands down winner to Mercedes. The S550 has the best looking interior under 100k. Even though its not their design. They perfected it. And also the new CL550. Hands down amazing interior. As for Audi, it is not class leading any more, we have to wait for some facelifts and redisigns for it to take the lead again. But Audi does have the best quality materials.

There are two main reasons to buy an Audi:
1. They're beautifully made cars
2. They're not a BMW

how do you people come up with Audi ruiling? What are they ruiling the lower class? Do I believe that the Audi make a very nice interior, yes.

You guys praising Audi's have to stop. Everytime someone buys an Audi they end up explaing why its better than a Mercedes or BMW. Audi owners know deep down its not on the level of Mercedes or BMW in terms of Marque or prestige. Every single Audi ownder sounds like a car salesman trying to say how great Audi is meanwhile people driving Mercedes and BMW dont say a word cause they dont have to. The names speak for themselves.

So I wonder what all those BMW and Mercedes owners I see regiulalry sittng broken down on the side of the I-5 are saying? Hard to revel in one's prestige when they know they're driving a piece of crap for which they also know they overpaid.

You are still bought into old news. Mercedes have gone to crap (ask any long time Mercedes customer if you don't believe me), and BMWs are only owned by status freaks who have inadequacy issues. I especially love the ones that buy the cheap beemers (like the 325 or 525) and de-badge them in an attempt to make folks think they bought the decent models. They would obviously rather drive the logo than better equipment. Says alot for the mass BMW fans.

And Mercedes C classes are little more than $40,000 Civics. Plastic pieces everywhere. Some prestige.

Who keeps posting these articles boasting Audi interiors so much? I know your not the only one GermanNut! Anyway this articles topic has been the topic of at least 4 other articles this week. I'm getting tired of this Audi amazing interior debate.

GermanNut just because "auto industry" feels there the best interiors in the buisness, doesn't mean that they are. And if you do think they are, to answer your question, yes, Mercedes in the next 5 years will have completed upgrading their entire model lineup, fitting their car's with the more beautiful interiors we see today in the CLS, SL, S-Class, & even the SLK and E-Class.

When it comes to interior luxury, the benz is dripping in it.

Audi may have its share of recognitions of best interior from many automobile magazines. However, I cannot stress this enough, nice built interior alone does not make a car better than the other. Sure Audi interior is nice and everything, but what good will it make if it breaks down so easily? I’ve had my share with Audis, and from reliability stands point, it did not get my nod. If any of you wants a car with nice looking interior with too many unscheduled pit-stops to the garage, go ahead. Certainly not me, I’d rather have a reliable car that does not irritate me with constant gizmos problems.

How can you say MB interiors are better when car magazines and critics across the auto indsutry acknowlege that Audi is the best?

What you say is the best interior is not what the auto critics or Ward's Auto World believe is the best interior.

COMAND OR MMI: Which is more intuitive...MMI

Materials quality: Which is higher........Audi

Layout: Which is better.............Audi

Ergonomics: Which is better............Audi

Obviously Audi wins. just check any car magazine review

If you think these Audi threads and praising will stop you better wake up because Audi will keep on earning praise on this site from me and many others as well.

It is true BMW drivers do absolutely crazy things such as rebadging their cars a lot more often than Audi or any other luxury manufacturer for that matter.

iamdabest:"You guys praising Audi's have to stop. Everytime someone buys an Audi they end up explaing why its better than a Mercedes or BMW. Audi owners know deep down its not on the level of Mercedes or BMW in terms of Marque or prestige"

what planet do you live on? audi have more prestige than m-b, except for the s-class. the a3, a4, a6 and q7 have more prestige than the a/b class, the c class, the e-class and the m, gl and r classes. an s, sl or cl is the only m-b worth having, i'd pick an audi over the other m-bs anyday.
mercedes used to be the most prestigious, about 10 years ago, but then they lost their way with the ml and a class, and it just went down hill from there.
and if you actually think that garbage you said is true, remember one thing: only in america.
the rest of the world is intelligent enough to recognise a good car when they see one, and aren't brain washed by 60 minutes and the "rebadged vw" crap. you guys keep on paying for your rebadged fords and chevrolets, at least audis (and only 3 models) have good underpinnings to start with, unlike the trash that comes out of lincoln and cadillac. rebadged ford crown victoria anyone?
