BMW exec expects Mercedes to start 2012 as top seller in U.S.
It appears that Bmw is about to lose the sales war with its German rival Mercedes-Benz and the big surprise is that these words don’t come from Daimler.., they come from a top executive of the Bavarian manufacturer. Jim O’Donnell, the head of Bmw U.S. operations admitted the fact that the 2012 Mercedes-Benz

"poser 323i."

Hmm...guess those IS250 drivers are posers to, eh?

Get this fact into your small narrow-minded pro-overpriced Toyota brain: most people don't care about performance. Someone who buys an entry-level model cares about other characteristics, not racing at stoplights or track driving.

Idiot.

Wait a second. The C class is considered a "poseur car" because it looks like an S class? That's it?

What a silly, childish and ultimately lame point of view.

Not everyone needs or aspires to own an S class. That's what entry-level luxury cars are for.

And not everyone needs performance - that's what base engines are for.

I drive a W203 C230 V6 by the way.

Why are they conceding so soon? Audi is already far ahead of MB this year with no signs of fading next year. Why wouldn't Audi be the number one luxury automaker for the 2012 calendar year then? Audi has already made much publicized statements to that affect as a goal by 2015. Why not 3yrs earlier? What is looming over the Horizon at BMW that makes them think their sales will fall off so dramatically next year? Or why do they think MB will make such a giant leap over Audi and BMW to take the lead? The only real new car they have coming is the S-Class but that only makes up about 20K sales worldwide, not the hundreds of thousands it would take to jump ahead.
