Who Has The Most Gorgeous Import Sport Sedan Face Today? You Rank The Top Four.
They say looks are subjective so rather than us going into a long diatribe about which sport sedan face we think is best today we thought we'd turn the tables around and have the experts rank them.
YOU!
Hopefully this will be a happy distraction from all the crazy Irene news and warnings.
Your decision should be on FACE DESIGN ONLY! Not how it drives, whether you like the brand or not, blah, blah, blah.
Rank them 1-4 with your favorite being one and the one you like least four.
New Lexus GS, Mercedes E-Class, Audi A6, and BMW 5-Series.
THOSE are the choices...
What say you, Spies?

I think this is hard because if anything, they have more 'handsome' features for a more masculine and agressive appearance.
1st - BMW 5 I think easily the best looking from the front. The rest I think are pretty hard to choose.
= 2nd and 3rd - Lexus GS and Mercedes E.
4th - (I would've done equal 2, 3, 4, but) the A4. Definitely I think the most masculine and "non-gorgeous" face out of the lot. Still nice though.

lol A4, I meant A6. Probably because they all look the same anyway, so it was a general observation.

it is a little ridiculous to have a thread about ranking the looks of the midsize luxury sedans and then have 50 straight photos that pertain to the last "while you're at it check out this totally unrelated topic" sentence, followed at the very end by one afterthought photo that is the only one that actually has to do with the original topic of the thread. It should be two separate threads.

BMW hands down. They are the only auto maker who has been able to keep distinguishing features that travel to the next generation and it look nice. Simple things like the halo headlights and dual front grille. straight forward I have never seen a ugly BMW. As for those other cars that's a whole other story. At the end of the day if you didn't come first then you don't matter so I won't even bother rating the other three 2nd 3rd and 4th. Audi's are wannabe's and take everything over board, Lexus is still trying to get it right and MB really didn't knock this E out of the park. The previous two looked much better when they came out than this gen does now and the simple fact that the M from Infiniti can compete with it and even it beat it in some reviews really shows how much they have slowed down.

so everyone has their own OPINION. I'm good with that, only that mine differs.
BMW brings nothing new to styling, same old now-boring halo light design with rear Hyundai looking lights. They have deviated from their roots to compete with MB and Lexus in the softer luxury segment.
As for MB, I generally love their styling, but they have overdone their front LED strip copy from the Audi on top of their double strip and dual fog lights on some models... makes them look tacky.
The Audi is the most original here as it is not a copy of any other brand. Integrated front grill and LED treatment plus simple yet elegant body lines are all Audi, modern and understated, not arrogant and loud like the BMW.
Lastly, oh Lexus, failing again. They just try too hard. Copying the integrated grill and LED strips in the headlights yells out ME TOO DESIGN. Body resembles the Camry and makes you wonder how much of it is based on the Camry.
The features most copied are clearly from Audi, not surprising. I give credit to BMW for not following on the LED strips, but that is because it would have been too obvious to do so, and they are too arrogant to even go there.
So,
1. Audi
2. MB
3. BMW
100. Lexus

I am an MB fan but this is what I honestly think:
Front...E class hands down.
Side....5 series is the best but A6 is almost as good
Rear....GS and A6
Inside..A6 and 5 series.

MB E. I don't like how BMW "super-sized" the kidneys on the 5. Car for car, I like everything else about the 5. The grille is not a deal breaker, and I would take the 5 over the E class.

Here is my top 4 best looking front end designs.
1. Refreshed 2012 Jaguar XF
2. BMW 5 Series
3. Audi A6
4. Infiniti M
Mercedes E class is last on my list.

I must say that 001 has a limited view of beauty. By limiting the choices to BMW,Lexus,Audi, and Mercedes you simply saying that the only import vehicles that display beauty come from Germany or Japan. I simply take issue with this.First off to limit the Japanese choice to just Lexus is ridiculous. Lexus in my view is not the only luxury auto maker in Japan and hardly the best looking in my view. That leaves BMW, Audi and Mercedes from Europe. There is no acknowledgement of of Great Britian,or Italy as if they dont't count. So let me say this. If your a Yuppy or somebody that needs to show the public they are getting wealthier then the 4 brands you mention are the standard bearers that the average non gear head would drive. But if you are a true gearhead you would look beyond the standard bearer's that essentially control the volume luxury market. If you want to be different, if you want to drive something that's a bit more special you would look at Jaguar, either XF, or the Maserati Quattroporte. Frankly in my opinion their front ends are a lot more interesting then BMW 5 series, the Audi A6, or the Mercedes E-Class.And why choose a Lexus over an Infinity? If we are looking strictly as a front face Lexus is rather dull like it's Toyota parent company. Now mind you I'm not saying that my choices mean that they are better car's then the 4 standard bearers you mention but rather I feel my choices or more interesting and I find them more appealing. True Gearheads should think outside the box. They should be more evolved then the general public.

Please tell me where I can get an XF or Quattroporte with all wheel drive and I might listen to you. Some "yuppies" are also practical and will save RWD for something smaller or more sporting.

Gee talk about high maintenance! this is just a comparison of a few competing brands, lets not overeact. Every car magazine in this planet does this because the universal inclusion of every model in the segment is not practical for many reasons. These are the major players in the American market which are generally compared. You can argue for Cadillac and maybe Infiniti but you could also exclude them due to sales, past performance, or simply because, in the case of Cadillac, maybe not be cross shopped with the european cars for most people - I include myself in this group because I don't believe Cadillac measures up in terms of handling or build quality - although I do like their styling.

I wouldn't single out any of these as looking particularly good. Too many folds and creases and even in the Porsche sedan the Panamera just doesn't have that clean look like the 911. Too many copy-cats.

It's a disadvantage. Also unprofessioanl. I never seen the 2012 GS in person plus you choosed a GS teaser to campare with instead of a production version. But if I'm going to pick, the BMW comes first. But where's Infinti, Acura, Buick, Caddy? It's like your choices are so minimum. It's obvious Autospies loves the 2012 GS that's why the Lexus teaser was used to comapre agaisnt rivals.

Yay. Another Autospies topic designed to add fuel to flame war fire.
Who cares which car has the best front? It's all friggin SUBJECTIVE.
Instead we get people beating each other up because they want to push through their idea of which car looks the best.

Audi (The most modern design of the group.)
MB (Great evolution of MB design. Sexier and sportier than previous generations)
BMW (Yawn. Bland design does nothing to bring the BMW design ethos forward.)
I'll reserve judgment on the Lexus until I view it in the sheetmetal.

The E, and the 5 have the most character without being too flashy. They incorporate a lot of nice details, and are very tasteful in general. The Lexus and Audi look cold and disconnected. The Lexus does appear to be the most aggressive looking, while the Audi looks a little dull with the droopy squiggle lights.
