Toyota Hopes Redesigned Camry Will Improve Crash Safety Over Outgoing Model
Toyota is serious about earning its reputation for dependability and safety back in the redesigned version of this best-selling sedan.

And it has room for improvement with respect to safety. Aside from the blemishes it has to deal with surrounding its accelerator-related recalls, the current-generation 2011 Toyota Camry earns just three-star results for frontal impact and four stars in side impact (after a retest, improving from three stars). And its seat-based rear-impact scores are only 'marginal' from the IIHS. In a class of safety high achievers, that's not so impressive.

Looks like U.S consumers got the ugly duckling! Asian and Middle Easter Toyota buyers got a much better looking 2012 Toyota Camry. Perhaps this is what the 2013 Lexus E350 will look like?

This Camry so far is not confirmed for Middle East. Middle East will get the same Camry as US. This Camry so far has only been confirmed for Ukraine market and probably would be offered later here in Middle East and will be badged as 'Camry Aurion'.

Its all realtive. To me: Ugly and Uglier.

Toyota brings nothing new in terms of design. Lack of originality, as expected in every Camry model.

The only reason they pay more is because various Governments add huge taxes, which maybe up to 100% of the value of the car.

no its not the only reason. in some countries taxes may up to %300-%400 like in syria and egypt for example, but not in my country.i think we r the least taxes in the world.saudi arabia is from the reachiest countries in the world but we missed the main reason which is human rights.

I was a bit surprised to hear how pathetic the 2011 Camry is as far as safety standards are, I am happy to hear that Toyota has corrected there short comings, by doing so will put them on top maybe? Progress is good.

Just because they say it, it don't make it so.

Toyota claims to be environmentally friendly with their Prius, yet makes the most environmentally UNFRIENDLY pick up truck. However they advertise that as the strongest and most dependable. Toyota only cares about the bottom line, like everyone else, but they go one step beyond to deceive their customers. They want to be everything to everyone.

They can take their fake dependability somewhere else.

Why would they need to address safety in the new model if they claimed the previous one was already a class segment leader in safety???? hmmmm.

Toyota claimed that this unsafe 2011 Camry was safe? lol, I never listen to any manufacturers about any claims until I confirm it from an un biased report, and you are right, the Tundra is the biggest disappointment if you ever wanted a truck, I don't call anything a truck (4x4) without a two speed transfer case, and the frame is way too flexable, the truck is junk! I would take any of the big three without having to think about it, if you question what I say... all I would have to say is ignorance is blitz, for you Toyota lovers pick a fight that you can win.
