SHOWDOWN: Does Mercedes' C63 AMG Coupe FINALLY Unseat The BMW M3?
For years, the BMW M3 has reigned supreme when it came down to high-performance coupes. Thing is there wasn't anyone really playing in that category.
And when Mercedes-Benz introduced the C63 AMG, people still said it wasn't an apples-to-apples comparison just because the AMG wasn't a coupe. Well, that all changed when the marque intro'd the C63 Coupe for the 2012 model year. In addition, Audi now has the class competitive RS5; however, Auto Motor Und Sport didn't test it in this head-to-head comparo.
But even though the C63 is an all-new entrant in this field, it still can't unshake the M3 from its throne.
According to Auto Motor Und Sport's testers, the M3 remains more spacious and comfortable for everyday driving while the Benz is too heavy and too top heavy.
Even though that's the conclusion, would the BMW M3 remain your pick?

I am an MB fan but that is not going to happen, in the same way that BMW won't catch MB in luxury and Comfort, MB wont catch the BMW in sportiness. But I can say that the line that separate them , now is very thin, in both ways.

Yonder7, you make a good point and that may actually be what both companies want so that they don't cannibalize each other. I have to say though as a Benz fan that my preference continues to be the more all-around package found in the C.

The Lexus IS-F already unseated the BMW M3? Since the Lexus IS-F is the class leader, they should be comparing the MB C63 AMG Coupe to the Lexus IS-F.

2011 refreshed IS-F is as quick as current M3 and next year IS-F will get another update mostly suspension which will further improve performance.

And the M3 is due for a complete overhual in a year or 2. Lexus needs more than suspension updates to be able to hang with the next gen M3. They will always be behind. Still a nice car though.

ISF is an outstanding firs attempt and it is a good car but I still prefer C63, M3 RS4 and then the ISF..

The C63 is a great car... in a straight line... but it's outdated engine and suspension leave a lot to be desired.

What? The C63 AMG has an "outdated suspension and engine"?
Funny comment of the day!

asafianow : Is not updated, in fact is one of the best engineered cars but the accessories for comfort and luxury makes it heavier and you can't fight the inertia in that way.

Who cares? Can't they all just be great cars and consumers can belly up to the bar and select their own favorite. Why do you morons always have to think there is a "best?" They are all great!
