Porsche Considers Boxster Style Eight Cylinder Engine For Ferrari Rival

Porsche is considering engineering a flat-eight boxster engine for its Ferrari-rivalling supercar, company bosses have admitted.

At the first unveiling of the new 991-series 911, Wolfgang Hatz, Porsche head of Research and Development said such an engine was ‘possible’. He told Autocar: "We have to go into that market properly equipped.".

It's a boxer engine, not a boxster engine, reading the article name I thought Porsche was finally making the 911 mid-engined. Silly me, that would be like the Corvette ditching its overhead cams or transverse leaf springs, it will never happen! (I think)

Build it already!!!!
The current 458 loaded up fairly well is $300k now.
I am sick and tired of 6 cyl 911's. There is a huge market for a car like this if it can be priced it around $200k with a V8 or more. I love the brand but just tired of 911's and not interested in paying $150k for the same ol same ol.
