Lincoln Outlines Plans It Says Will Allow It To Compete Against Lexus, BMW, And Mercedes

Ford's reinvention of the Lincoln brand passes an important milestone this week in the effort to compete more effectively with BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Lexus and Cadillac.

In October 2010, Mark Fields, Ford president of the Americas, said Lincoln would reduce the number of dealers in the 130 largest metropolitan markets from 434 to about 325 by the end of this year. Those that survive pledged to make certain commitments as of Thursday. Those include:

Lincoln Outlines Plans It Says Will Allow It To Compete Against Lexus, BMW, And Mercedes. Really? Ford paid a consultant six figures to explain to them what a Lincoln was three years ago. He was from the UK! Ford has no idea what to do with Lincoln and all the money they spend on it to keep it going could be used to make Fords better. Ford should just shut that sucker down also.

The dealers know what is going on with the brand but Ford is holding on. That is why the dealers would not invest in new showrooms for the brand earlier in the year.

Too bad so sad.

Needs complete redesign of:
1. form
2. performance
3. handling
4. interior

I agree 100% with all the above naysayers...but we may be surprised in the end. Ford's current management (CEO), designs and performance have hit the mark more often than not. They may have a few aces up their sleeve they are not showing yet. Time will tell.
