WHICH Is Better Looking? The Honda Accord, Hyundai Sonata, OR All-New Toyota Camry?
When it comes to the midsize sedan category, it's pretty easy to see that these are not the most spectacular-looking vehicles. I mean, just look at them. Though magazines hum about how great the Ford Fusion is, it looks...bland. And how about the new Volkswagen Passat?

It's as a big as a house. A big, square, boring house.

But as we've seen with the 2011 Hyundai Sonata, the segment decided to jazz itself up a bit. By no means do I consider the Sonata the pinnacle of automotive design but I will say at least it stands out apart from the class.

With that said, 2012 brought along the all-new Toyota Camry. Redesigned from the bottom up, this car is one of the most sold vehicles nationwide and Toyota's sacred cow. That means it can't mess up.

But if you were to chose out of the Honda Accord, Hyundai Sonata, and 2012 Toyota Camry -- in terms of design --, WHICH would YOU walk away with?

If were comparing Sedan version than I think the Hyundai Sonata look way better than the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord and that is really sad because I'm a Lexus fan. But the Toyota Camry is not known to be a good looker, it's known for a very Reliable cars, so is the Honda Accord. This something that Hyundai has NOT prove itself so well.

If were talking about reliability and quality of the cars, Toyota and Honda still is way ahead of Hyundai. The way I see it, if it Not broken, don't fix it. Their is a lots of people that will buy the Toyota or Honda over the Hyundai any day.

Can you post another thread where it will ask "Which car is more Reliable, Toyota Camry, Honda Accord or the Hyundai Sonata?"

Oh wait, everyone already know the answer to that one, it's the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord is the most reliable car.

Why are only pictures of the Camry posted?

But to answer the question of which is the best looking: Camry SE.

Sonata is already starting to look dated, and the Accord looked good, but I'm not a fan of the recent refreshed tail lights and grill.

Sonata...or maybe the Optima....

Camry's wheels look way too small for some reason...even on the SE

Camry got average looks. Not very nice and not ugly as well. SE variant is nice, so i say Camry.

Optima looks nothing like the Accord, except maybe a slight resemblemce on the headlights. And I wasn't aware that $31,000 for a Kia was cheap.

I didn't get that cheap comment either, they're all within couple thousand of one another price wise.

From the bland midsized sedan category... the Lancer, Mazda 6, and Malibu all look better then the models mentioned in the article.

Get over yourself, are you still sour about me calling out your hissy fit? That being said, if you read the article it also mentions other midsize sedans and only proposed the three since the author thought they were the most attractive ones on the market. Hence, all makes and models of midsize sedans are available for debate.

You have me mistaken! I'm not against Honda at all, I'd very much like a S2000 or any CBR.

If you want to play the literal game I can one up you! Very few of the people viewing this page are actually going to walk away with a any of the choices :)

It's ok, I know you have an irrational hate against me because I repeatedly post opinions so different from your own. Relax and realize that it's normal to not agree with everyone! You'll live longer haha.

Putting aside the fact that this post is CLEARLY an advertisement for the new Camry, I vote none of the above. Kia Optima is the better looking of all in this segment. The new Camry will sell well because it's a toyota, and there are plenty of people who don't care what they drive. But it's still ugly.

It's like the Camry and the Passat are trying to out-dull one another. In terms of design, and design only I'd go with either the Sonata or Optima, they may not appeal to everyone but at least they're starting up conversations and flame wars. The Camry is on top, therefore Toyota feels they can rest on their design laurels. Its a sane tactic from a business standpoint, looking like a bigger Corolla was not a fluke to them.

Camry is not attractive from a looks standpoint at all. The Accord is probably the best looking of the three.

Toyota reliable? that is old school thinking, I never go for looks, I go for reliability, safety, economy and performance,as why I like a car, looks are never a concern, it is a bonus if it looks good, but on the bottom of my list, so I could care less what they all look like, although it does look better than the older one that it replaces.

Have you seen the latest Consumer Reports reliability test scores? Hyundai and Kia cars rank just as high as Toyota and Honda also ALL Hyundai/Kia cars come with a 10yr/100000 mile power-train warranty!

I'm really disappointed with the styling of this new Toyota Camry. This 2012 Toyota Camry looks like an enlarged 2008-2011 Toyota Corolla. Look closely at the two of them and see!

Better Looking? Sonata wins in that category hands down. And for those who disagree need to have their brain checked. Others would like to inject reliability as a factor to help the Honda/Toyota argument, however both Honda & Toyota have had some issues. In fact, Honda/Acura had a stretch of faulty V6 transmissions lasted for several years.

I think the article should ask the question which vehicle is less ugly rather then which is most beautiful. However I'll adhere to the question.
1) Camry-Least beautiful because it looks more like the Corolla now. Toyota in their infinite stupid styling wisdom decided to play the conservative route. However by making the car look like a Corolla they shot themselves in the foot. The Corolla is not selling at the top of the B market segment. The Camry does not look at all upscale in my opinion.
2)Accord-Slightly better looking. What let's it down are the bulging headlights and tail lights. Also the interior dash is too busy (gameboy) looking.
3) Sonata-Clearly right now the best looking of the 3. However I'm not really a fan of it's swoopy looks. Further I don't think it will age well. So in this group the Sonata wins.

However- I still prefer the Kia Optima and VW Passat over these.
Kia-Great sharp design and looks very European.
VW-Yes very conservative but like the sharper crease styling and manages to look more upscale then any of the others, especially in it's interior dash.

Here's the Toyota Camry Global Version. It's a 1000 times better than the U.S. version.

This question is like asking which one of these homely girls do you like the best. The Nissan Altima looks the best out of the bunch. If the Maxima were included in this class, it would be the best.

Has Toyota adopted Acura's beak for the Camry?

If you're comparing sedans... based solely on looks only... I'd say Sonata / Camry / Accord... I think the design team for Honda spent way too much time on the coupe and not enough time on the Accord...

That being said, out of the non-luxury mid-size sedans, I think the new Optima is probably the most forward thinking design...

The Chrysler 200 is nice looking, but the design will look dated very quickly since it is still very close in design to the Sebring IMO.

Why on earth is the Accord picked before the new Malibu? I know Autospies doesn't think the Accord is a beauty queen. Out of all the D segment cars to compare in looks why not the Mazda6, Suzuki, Kia Optima or that nice looking facelifted Malibu? You can tell this blog praises Honda and Toyota. Especailly if the blog thinks the Accord is up there with the Optima in looks.

I think I understand Toyota philosophy. Make the Camry look like a larger Corolla so they will encourage them to make the logical upsize move. It then becomes familiar territory for the Corolla buyer when there is a bit more money to spend. But have Toyota thought about their Camry faithful. Up until this point the've spent their money on a larger more luxurious refined car then the Corolla buyer. Also the Camry always looked not only different but more upmarket. So what does the Camry buyer have to look forward to now? Your neighbor accross the street will think you've you've had a financial loss and your trying to economize by buying a Corolla. He'll pat you on the backand say "Buck up old chum. Things will get better soon. And then you tell him that this car is in fact the new Camry. Then all of a sudden he breaks out laughing histerically and you are totally embarrased.

Sonata hands down! Put this Camry next to the current face lifted Corolla and these two tell a story similar to the trouble american automakers have just weathered. Facelifting irrelevant designs.
