What's Missing From The Lexus Product Mix And If You Could Add ONE Model, WHAT Would It Be?
Lexus has a strong product offering in the premium luxury space but no brand is perfect and can always use it's next lineup superstar.

So our question for you today is 'What's missing from the Lexus product mix and if you could add ONE model, WHAT would it be?"

You can pick anything car/suv etc. but we want you to answer with specificity...

Example 'A More sporty X6-like SUV slotted between RX and GX'.

It can be an existing model with more performance or special package or it can be something totally new that a competitor has that you think would sell well for them.

Also tell us where it should be priced also.

So what's it gonna be Spies?

Discuss...

Nothing wrong with the Lexus current lineup. Every car that Lexus makes leads its respective class. Sheer perfection.

Lexus needs a proper GT coupe to fight with the G37 Coupe, A5, new C Class coupe and the BMW. Since Lexus is going after the same core demographic as Cadillac, throw the CTS coupe in there as well.

I couldn't agree more @morepower!

Give that man a beer!

Something that really changes the game in that space.

A Baby LF-A would be my call.

whatever this guy is saying. They definitely need a "REAL" version of the Lexus IS350 Coupe but with more horsepower to compete with the Audi S5, G37 coupe IPL, BMW 335iS coupe etc. And maybe a BMW 6-Series GT Coupe fighter and a Lexus GS-F as well to against M5, E63AMG, Cadillac CTS-V etc.

Lexus doesn't need one car in particular, but it needs to add true sportiness to all of its lineups and they can start by putting fat tires to their cars and stop making 6 cylinder cars be front wheel drive.

But, to answer this question I'd say they need a true Porsche and GTR competitor. The LFA is out of this world expensive and its losing races left and right, so to me the LFA was a total failure. Price of such a car should be in the $80k.

BD on point!

The HPX concept would have certainly been a big success! But it seems that Lexus is not ready to completely build and invest in Lexus specific SUV's or crossovers without Toyota underpinnings. While I personally have no problem platform sharing, the design should at least reflect the class and style the Lexus brand is revered for.

The GX(Toyota Prado)is simply horrendous and should be put out to pasture. Even the LX470(Toyota Land Cruiser)is little long in the tooth and is somewhat lacking in pizazz. Lexus needs to totally revamp it's SUV and crossover models soon with styling that doesn't look like warmed over Toyota's (sans the RX)!

What Lexus needs is a fresh look at their future ten years out. Their sales figures this year indicate a near term calamity. The question, are they ready to reinvent themselves with an eye towards being relevant as a full line luxury manufacturer. The four door coupe space is begging for a lexsus entrant. I would like the Suv's to be good drivers, not race cars, just competent drivers. That probably would reflect where they need to be as a company.

A real IS coupe, not a convertible. Give it a true manual transmission and not the current non performance oriented crap that plagues the current IS 250 (and the previous IS 300 which was sadly better). Make it perform reasonably well for around $30-35k and make an "F" that's more hardcore. A GS version of a coupe with the same treatment would be good idea also.

A unibody 7 seater SUV like X5, GL...etc positioned above RX would help sales. GX and LX are very nice but they are body on frame real SUVs. Body on frame makes them good offroader but on other hand it affects on road comfort and handling. Majority of the buyers in this class don't take their SUVs offroad so a 7 seater luxurious softroader is needed.

But if i could add one model, it would be IS coupe and lot of engine options throughout the lineup.

A new SC that is more involving and compelling than a 650.it should somehow leverage the design language of the LFA.

Lexus already has a reputation for few defects and a high level of apparent luxury, both things I like. If they had styling that appealed to me (to my subjective eyes, they look like generic Asian cars), and handling that was more along the lines of crisp, balanced, and sporty (like BMW), then I'd be visiting Lexus's showrooms instead of Audi's.

Lexus definitely needs to work on the coupe situation. The IS C should improve after the next redesign to better compete with BMW and Audi etc...but that's not quite enough.

It is the SC that that needs to resurface and do so in a '13 GS way! The SC has always been the only truly unique car in their line-up. Lexus struggled in the past to compete with the 6 Series and SL, but if they do what they're capable of, they can take on Porsche/Audi too. They need a truly exciting car with the dynamics, quality and very competitive pricing...one that can be sitting in every one their showrooms at all times throughout the year!

One more offering Lexus should think about is a smaller SUV below the RX, something on the wild side with large wheels/tires etc., unlike the X3 or Q5.

too much missing....original design, a new engine or two (why is the 2012 GS being fitted with the same engine as the 2006 IS350?), a decent chassis that can balance ride and handling (you choose: punishing ride in the IS-F or 1985 cadillac chassis in the ES?), some new colors (enough with the silver!!), etc. etc.
